I feel that a good addition to the Halcyons would be to put it at the very front of fleet movements. I have a few reasons for why I think this is a good idea and to make them easy to note I'll dot em out.

- Firstly the Halcyon currently shares a position in the fleet with the Thanatos-class, this means that the Thanatos will take hits the that Halcyon should be taking.

- Secondly the Halcyon hasn't got as much acceleration as the Thanatos-class so when the ships move to engage the Thanatos will pull ahead and take unnecessary hits.

Now I realize both of these issues can be worked around simply with some micro management however it does become a little tiresome but more importantly very difficult to control when fighting on multiple worlds.

I have to agree.

Also any way you can get covenant ships to prioritise halcyons over destroyers too?

its all good having destroyers in the 2nd rank but if cov ships go straight for the 2nd rank there is no difference.

Sure it does. If they hold their fire for the first rank, that means it takes longer for them to fire. In addition, the UNSC gets the first shot off, thus meaning there are less Covenant ships that fire when they actually do fire. Plus the UNSC is already into phase 2 when the Covenant hits phase 1.

Mmm, mmm, good point. Though I'd be surprised if the 15 or so Halycons you'd take were able to kill off even 1 CCS-class ship haha.

15 MAC rounds would be overkill for pretty much any ship in the game

I figured as much heh.

I would be interested to see how this would affect the balance of large engagements myself.

Well my job is strings n such, so i wouldnt be the one tryin it out, especially since this would affect balance.

Which as it currently stands, is darned near perfect. You can thank Dianno and Despoiler for that, sheer brilliance i tell you

I really don't know how they did it, I've been taking a break recently but the more I update the wikia the more I am in awe of just how well thought out the mod is. My absolutely favourite ship is the Halycon simply because of the depth that went into it's design, I wouldn't mind shaking hands with the guys who put it together.

Pretty much this. Both ship-to-ship combat and fleet composition are perfect right now.

What you described in the OP is the ideal micro management a player should be able to do. But that's related to his personal skill. Just like when you put phalanxes in front of your archers. You choose to do it, and not the game.
