The only real difference is that they would be compose instead of dead. Which means the forerunners would be alive and the world would live happily ever after with the Didact watching over them with a massive, universe big promethean army. Is that happy?

I've watched the background battle in the Return to Sender cutscene about a thousand times now and I've got to say we nailed the musket line style of ship combat they're displaying rather well. Volume of fire is a little lower than I imagined, but overall SotP plays similar to the "real" deal.
