Best to be direct, make it clear.
And if we eventually get more mods...
Which will more than likely happen, im expecting CAW next, then that other halo mod for empire at war, (forget the name) then anything else the devs can find.
And when this does happen, I see a hierarchy like this
*ahem*
one upon a time on the internet
a collection of halo mods existed, separated and divided buy coding barriers and games
but one day, three mods would appear, Sotp, HHF, and CAW and unite this fractured and divided (not by choice) collection of halo mods far and wide
the devs would control these, with the playtesters as the elite guard of there interests
everyone else just watched in awe as all the mods collected to form one super mod
Halo: mods (love the name, dont you?)
and the internet would fill with pictures of tributes to the mega creation
and following this event the internet would be controlled by this mega creation, destroying any thing else that came on the internet
and yet there was peace, as cities crumbled and other things happened that really dont matter to us now internet addicted zombies continued to happen, the people of the world understood, this is how it will end, our world become theirs, and we will hope for the best as tributes to Unikraken are seen far and wide.
this is our destiny, will we deny it?

I'm not sure of Canada or Zero's position to bring in other Halo mod groups in (CaW is probably considered already in), but assuming they are for it and assuming we can enlist them for whatever reason it may be, its possible to make an impressive team of developers with diverse skills in what has the potential to be the next large halo community that has developers working on multiple projects under the flag of this "coalition" of mod teams.

But back to the point, how would you migrate to a different game altogether? since that what it sounds like, but I am clueless about ANYTHING home world, (my talents rest in knowledge of SotP and Soase) so if its not a totally different game and just a graphics update that makes more sense.
Well the Homeworld 1 & 2 remakes are just that, remakes. What we're hoping for is a more advanced graphics system with the same type of coding, or very similar at least. The transition should be smooth I hope.
So can SotP playtesters transition and automatically playtest for Homefront as well?
I don't see why not, the only issue I see now is since all the playtesters for both mods are under the same banner, whos to stop a Homefront person from testing SOTP and vice versa? Shouldn't be too much of an issue. Then again, Homefront only has two playtesters at the moment.

We could separate the playtester groups if that's what is desired, but I see no reason to do that. Having a good sized chunk of people able to test issues and balancing has been really beneficial to us. Even XR managed to cause a change in the mod through playtesting that we hadn't thought of before.

The Halo community has always been tight knit, it should be no surprise that the modding community inside the Halo community has the potential to be just as close when given the chance and space to do so. I sincerely hope we're able to network with a great many mods over time and share ideas and resources where we can.
The fans can only benefit from such a thing.

So it is essentially going to be a pool of playtesters? When a mod joins the playtesters of a mod has access to the closed betas of the other mods?
This has not been decided. It would depend entirely on the other mods, specifically for now HHF.

A tight knit community is vital for modders, without it you'll begin to see stagnation and arguments will happen. The Star Trek modding community began to fall apart around '06-'08 and many people have moved on from it. It shows too, there a far fewer ST mods out in the wild and it's a damn shame.
It's great to see a vibrant and forming community and the merging of these two Halo mods can only be a good thing. Keep it alive people.

Time to start asking around the other mods, not just space. Contact the Far_Seer on moddb, he is a tad busy with his RotM mod though, but i am sure he would be somewhat interested.

Really wanting to see how this turns out, looks like you guys have solid game plan to make the Halo mod community a better place. I wish I could help more, But I dont have the slightest clue how.
But that doesn't mean i wont try

Yeah, let's not limit the idea of any cooperation to that between Halo mods. There's no reason a Star Trek mod or a Star Wars mod or anything else couldn't also be part of any of the things people are suggesting here.
To be honest, a lot more things would probably get done if resources were pooled. Mods have stagnant periods where there's nothing to be done, in the mean time, they could work on another mod.

I support pooling playtesters. There isn't a reason why we shouldn't.
I agree with this guy, but this brings up another concern, are there enough playtesters to test both games and find bugs and give feedback for both games at a suitable rate? after all production of the games will speed up (im assuming) and might have trouble keeping pace with everything. Maybe there are enoguh testers, this was just something i thought of after Kheva brought this up awhile back.

SotP has 20 to 30 playtesters. Not all active, but they're there sometimes.

We have playtesters. It's not like all playtesters are required to playtest all mods - there would obviously be some for each mod but all under the same group.

Well, if you want to get technical, you do have cooperation from a Star Wars mod; both sloose and I are SoGE staff.

I'd assume a mod would already have some playtesters when they join and so wouldn't be hurting for playtesters. Some playtesters would have a preference for a mod and would test that one more but could also provide feedback for another.I agree with this guy, but this brings up another concern, are there enough playtesters to test both games and find bugs and give feedback for both games at a suitable rate? after all production of the games will speed up (im assuming) and might have trouble keeping pace with everything. Do we get a new Domain? Or will it remain sinsoftheprophets.com?
Edit: You can map a second domain to that forum.
I.e. sinsoftheprophets.com
and
halohomefront.com
will both be directed here
