I really like the new idea of Heavy Deck guns for some of the UNSC ship but one thing I do not understand is why the graphical effect only shows them fire about once a second but sometimes has them firing in rapid succession. Also the MAC sound about the same as the deck guns, are there any plans to make the MAC sound more impressive?

Strictly speaking, a MAC shouldn't really have much sound to begin with. It's not a detonation based weapon; at most there would be an electrical sound on the interior of the ship along the barrel as the round is propelled. In atmosphere the air would cause an ear shattering boom, of course. I don't know what the team is planning, but honestly there are probably bigger changes on the list either way.

id say that, if any sound is changed, it would be the deck guns sounding quieter. And i doubt that this is much of a priority as the sound does its job for the deck guns

Strictly speaking, there are no sounds in space. all the sounds are basically what they would sound like in atmosphere so an ear shattering boom should be added.

the sounds are what they are so that they are realistic to the situation without having zero sound. there wont be a shattering boom because UNSC fleets number in the hundreds and the first volley would probably blast out your eardrums.

you guys realize that despite all logic you can hear the SMAC station firing it's cannon the entire first level of Halo 2 (even though the whole space thing), and in Halo 3 you have the attack against the keyship in which a couple of frigates are firing their mac.

the SMAC thing i would say is the sound waves travelling through the structure and into chiefs armor, then transfering into the air around his head in his helmet, then into his ear, which would produce the sound.

The recent Battlestar TV show does try to break from the norm with that, every other scifi show has sound in space, BSG went for the realistic methods of e.g. only hearing the muffled sounds of the viper's guns through the hull and into the canopy.
