The covenant starbase seems to do very little damage. I had a starbase with weapons upgraded to 3rd tier, and it could barely get through the shields of a CCS. The same CCS destroyed the starbase almost single-handedly (there were a couple sdv ships providing bombers). It was kind of annoying considering starbases should be able to hold off a medium sized fleet for a while. It barely lasted a minute. I think rebalancing is needed here.

The starbases are all works in progress, this is why our release is called an alpha. But regarding the quote above, what part of Sins of a Solar Empire have we kept? Your concept of a starbase is from the base game, not what we're doing with it.

They're so OP if you're playing as the UNSC, i lost half of my fleet fighting one of those things.
Then when i have the thing stuck where i want it. the fucker moved!

If i remember correctly, a senior staff member said that the covenant base was mainly logistics rather than defence.

Fair enough, but it should be able to destroy a few SDV ships and a single CCS. Other than that, I'm loving the alpha and you guys have done a great job with it so far.

Course, if you have a big enough fleet, even one with heavily upgraded health/armor can die within the first volley. Hell, I saw one die from... 20-38ish makos

Just got the mod, like it so far but the weak point is the strbase at least of UNSC. it's just too weak. I have aa nice asteroid feild in a map I'm playing and it can barely hold of anything.

Yeh you can't rely on starbases to do anything other than non combat support.
hopefully the omega orbital emplacement will hopefully make its way into the mod.

which is a bad way to do it. I had an asteroid field with 8 resource rocks and the mac guns can't be used so the only option is the starbase and it's just too weak to do it.

The anchor acts as part massive sabre hangar, part fleet constructor (important!) and part phase stabiliser. You're right, it won't hold a gravity well because it's not designed to nor could it in the lore. You need a fleet to help defend.

Mac guns can't be used? Going to need elaboration on that, bud.

SMACS i think he means.
Son, you need to use a fleet. Or capture the planet where them ships are coming from.

orbital mac cannons can't be used for it's not a colonizable planet. Not maybe that version couldn't but the Rubble from Cole protocol had a rail gun they modified into a mac so maybe that's an option.

This isn't vanilla sins. this is SOTP, its mean to be different, and it takes getting used to.

Greart so i have to waste fleet supply to defend it permanmently. STRONGLY suggest you look at the Rubble on this issue.

not an issue, its how its supposed to play.
The rubble was a colony so needed a mass accelerator.
asteroid belts have no population so why would they need one?

What map are you on? you should only have to control one or two of them and you will be fine. cause chokepoints are usually neutral wells.

To defend a resource satilite. like i said the spot had about 8 resource asteroids there so a valuable piece to have. and a military verions of the rubble could be doable. Lore wise.

They'd use a fleet rather than a platform. Think of the north sea oil rigs in a similar respect. You're not gonna build a bunker to defend them. You're gonna use a fleet instead.
