They blow up the shield world they found, at the sacrifice of their shaw fujikawa (slip space) drive. They are last show to be moving away from the installation at sub-light speed. Most if not all of the crew is put into cryo sleep and they prepare for one hell of a long trip. Presumably back to Earth or Reach. Depending on how far away they are its not unreasonable to think that they'll all starve to death or die of old age before the get anywhere significant. But who knows. Maaaybe we'll get some more official story on their whereabouts but im not holding my breath

It is confirmed the Spirit of Fire is in Escalation, there is some teaser material released that you can check out if you don't want to wait for the official release.
