I dont know if there is a thread on this somewhere else, so if there is just let me know. However, i was just wondering if there was any plans on making the thermopylae more usefull in the mod. What i mean by this is that right now it costs alot and will aways get targeted and shot down in a few seconds, they are almost pointless to build.  I dont know what could be done... but yhea.

It's already quite buff heavy and very beefy, what more do you want out of it (serious question)?

Stating that they are targeted and shot down in a few seconds is quite a lie. They might be targeted first, but unless you're using them by themselves, they aren't taken down easily. The Thermopylae is a fair mix between a carrier and an assault cruiser, and it has a lot of armour; its MACs are quite powerful and overall it's worth its cost. Used correctly in a good-assembled fleet, it becomes a fearsome ship, capable of withstanding the power of a CAS.

I play the capital bordering maps sometimes with flagships on and just have flagship battles. With nukes the Supercarrier beats the CAS

OK the Thermopylae has been made much note useful in the internal build of the mod than the last public release. Trust me its a good ship.

It's been my personal experience that Super carriers are godly in all types of combat. They're an excellent plasma sponge, and they return the favor nicely as well. If they have sufficient back up and some repair ships they can really stomp on covenant ships.

and i just realized. Will super carriers get shields if you choose the oni faction? That would make them pretty much on par with a CAS carrier. Or which ever one isnt the one from reach lol

Dunno if the choice of UNSC/ONI would be a faction split pre-match but would'nt it be better off as a branch of the tech tree that locks out the non ONI option considering the few differences between the 2 if they were made as separate factions won't they both have mostly the same ships, given enough time wouldn't the Innies be a more ideal choice as their fleet would be composed of mostly outdated but farmiliar ships with drastic upgrades possibly covenant in origin bought off the black market

It will be a tech tree split. There will be NO INNIE FACTION AT ALL IN THE MOD.

We've been very open and clear about our plans for the factions for over a year. If you're not up to date it's not our fault.

We make the Covenant and UNSC, you decide if they're good or bad when YOU play the game. Make your own adventure. SoaSE isn't made for storytelling and SotP isn't going to try force it.

You can have 2 really well designed and pretty factions or you can 4 or 6 really shitty factions with overlapping material and more minidumps, longer development time and more strain on the 2 Gb RAM limit leading to more crashing late game and more lag throughout your matches...
