More realistic solar systems

Is it possible to make the planets actually orbit their Suns? 

 

Not sure if this can be done but;

 

1, This could make better use of the S.A.D.A.R technology (it only tells you whats two jumps away, bit dull <_<), being that it could possibly tell you whats in a particular system i.e. revealing planets - the further away the object/planet is the longer it takes to detect. Say that some thing is moving in the solar system, it can say where the object is going. 

 

1.5, This can add new and remove old structures; telescopes, space stations (where you chose if they do civilian or military research).

 

2, This could make the game less predictable, since the phase lanes show you where ships are going to jump in, knowing that all you have to do place your M.A.C cannons in certain positions and that's it.

 

3, This can mean that a black hole could be the center of a solar system. They can also be dangerous i.e. destroying some ships that enter it. You can make the forerunner portal orbit a planet like an installation or just orbit the sun they shouldn't be the same size as planets. This can be used to add another level to the black hole travel technology.

 

The phase lanes are way too messy and boring.

 

Random Suggestions; Be able to see whats happening on the ground or even control whats happening, Moving Artifacts to a planet you want it on. Bring back the pirates but call them Innies.

I don't think it's possible within SoaSE game code to make the planets move in-game, or orbit their stars.

 

Super MAC guns alone aren't enough to hold off entire fleets from moving through choke points. It would be cool if black holes destroyed ships, but again, I'm not sure if that's possible in game code.

 

Phase lanes are the only way to travel in-between planets, there is no other way (to my knowledge). The SoaSE game only deals with space battles, not planetary battles. I believe the mod staff are focusing on the UNSC and Covenant factions, before the Forerunner or pirate factions.

 

This is what I know to the best of my knowledge. I've designed some campaign maps, and am working on a large new one for when the UNSC Infinity is released. Hope I helped you a bit.

No, the hardcoding within the Sins engine is too inflexible to allow that sort of thing. Star Ruler 2 on the other hand isn't nearly so rigid, if a halo mod were to be created for that game...that would be an interesting prospect for a number of reasons.

wait a minute...

if I recal curectly a DLC style mod was released for the starwars mod on this game a while back that aloud you to jump from planet to planet with out phaselanes it came out as a add on and not a part of the actual mod. I think they just re wrote the code for the slip space thing on those warp points that would let you slip from one place to another a slong as they were both on and put it into the plnet of ship codes.

 

I might be wrong but you could always ask them

for the planetary and in planet battles yah but the slip space idea removing phase lanes is already in game, youd just need to fix it up and figure out how to do it.

I mean the guys who worked on the SoGE figured it out, I bet it would add tons to the game as it would mean as logn as a player had a planet on his map he could go there and suprice attack any one till they could counter and push all the tiem knowing anothe rattack could happen, adding into the defensive stratagy that the game despritly desires.

The guy who did it is on our team. We have chosen not to implement it for a reason and to see why you will need to wait until the mod is complete.
