The goal is to have it function the same as the motherships in the vanilla game. Still under construction, but the hard part is finished.

If you turn geometry detail off it goes down to 9K polies, which is the same as one frigate.

I know next to nothing about Homeworld so I'm curious, what does that do to the model?

Homeworld 2 is a very advanced game for its time (2003). Each model has varying LODs (Levels of Detail for those who don't know) that step up and step down the quality of the model based on how far you are from it. Then there's the geometry detail which is separate from the LODs and focuses on smaller details that enhance the model. So all the stuff on the station like the girders, logos, stripes, anything that you can't really see on the first LOD zoomed out are geometry detail. This is where the model gets intensive, but instead of immediately downgrading or upgrading LOD levels, it fades in and out at a distance kind of with a fog effect so you can still be on LOD0 which is the highest poly LOD and not see geometry mesh because you happen to be a distance where its hard to see. Saves a ton of resources and lets me get away with pushing into the 50k poly range, which is where the station is with the geometry detail. Its only 9k at LOD0 without.

Got some subsystems in-game. All I have left for the station now is to finish the R&D satellite (Nav Beacon from Reach) and do all the fancy nav light placements, dock paths, etc, and then its out the pipeline. This thing has been a major drain on my workflow and checklist. Good thing its at the top and October!

Anchor 12 is looking pretty beefy. Inside the construction bay are several engineering platforms dedicated to constructing the four types of combat units: strike craft, corvettes, frigates and capitals.

The ODP Generator makes use of Anchor 12's massive solar array to power the SMAC 'Nemesis'.

The slipspace inhibitor tower utilizes a capital-class Shaw-Fujikawa Slipspace Drive to emit a pseudo gravity well around the station. In the event of catastrophic damage, the station's AI shuts down the slipspace drive before destruction.

Fire control tower gives friendly ships near the station weapon accuracy and damage gains.
