SPOILERS BELOW:

So in the most recent issue of Escalation an SDV-class and a few Liches held off Infinity, we know Corvette's in the vanilla are the anti-titan.  Thoughts?

Probably not as a corvette, but that does sound really cool.

That issue sounds extremely fucking stupid, but then all of them have been. The Infinity rammed a fucking RCS without a scratch, you're telling me unshielded troop transport ships were capable of keeping Infinity at bay? Smh.

It's not entirely unbelievable. Think about it, in WWII we threw guns on guns on guns onto the bombers for protection.  They didn't work at all, the small more maneuverable fighters easily avoided fire from the bombers and we were forced to start using fighter escorts. For the same reason we surround our carriers with Aegis cruisers and other ships for anti air roles.

Even with advanced targeting computers it's not unlikely you could dodge AAA fire and the Infinity is far too unwieldy  to us it's main guns.

That being said I would assume the Infinity has a large assortment of Longswords, Broadswords, Shortswords, Katana's and Pelicans. Which you'd think be able to take out a couple of small corvettes.

Well it IS escalation we are talking about here, we know how fucky that is.

I do think its shielded though, but how the hell it could take on the infinity is beyond me. But apparently not beyond who wrote this garbage.

This right here. The combat is way too fast for them to be even remotely useful. In vanilla they worked because combat was pretty slow and was based on routing the enemy. Not the case here.

The Infinity is not a WWII bomber. It has highly sophisticated AI that should be more than capable to man turrets, missiles, etc to swiftly take care of a couple of Corvettes and space scarabs. In the new novels, Infinity had shield breaking missiles, anti air batteries, etc and held off a small attack force of shielded frigates above Sangheilios. Escalation is just a piece of shit.

Let's not forget that it also has 830 70mm M965 Point Defense Turrets. It's going to be pretty freaking hard to miss a few liches with THAT many, and that's not even mentioning the complex AI that it has on board, which knows where to fire them perfectly. If you don't think that's enough, then let's talk about the 350 archer Missile pods, the 250 rapier missile pods, and the 500 Howler Missile pods. Trust me, the Infinity can not, and will never be, held off by what would be a few tiny insects on its windshield.

also we can add on the fact the the tertiary batteries in gameplay of Halo 4 (as shitty of a campaign that was) were able to push back a mixed Covie and Promethean assault force on the infinity...

remember how Fireteam Crimson made it onto the Infinity alive in their phantom? In one piece? Not good enough for point defense in my eyes.

Escalation has successfully dehyped the shit out of Infinity for me lol.  First it gets owned by 3 Energy Projector shots, now it gets engaged by a pirate fleet.  smfh.  Also what's with these authors and wanking the SDV.  First it was Gajat's flagship when he had several CASes, now one and some liches can hold back Infinity.
