Lower the numbers?

One thing I noticed in SOTP is that the numbers for damage and shield and hull are so high. Any reason for the increase?  Or is it just feel?

To go along with canon and actually be decently real. Super heated plasma? Will absolutely wreck your ship. A 600 ton slug of depleted Uranium going at 30,000 meters a second? Will completely wreck your ship.

To go along with canon and actually be decently real.

Ah yeah, I perfectly remember that line in The Fall of Reach. "And there was a CCS-class cruiser, with a shield value of 2000 and its fearsome energy projectors that would do a whopping 60 damage."

 

I have also personally seen a ship anchored in an italian port with an incredible 6000 hull!

Ah yes I remember now it was in Thursday War as well.  "Thel 'Vadam's jaw dropped, Infinity had a whopping 120,000 shield, even Shadow of Intent only had 40k."
