What the title says. I'm four hours into a game, and it has come to a stand still to where if I move my fleet to attack one of them and push them another one of the AIs attack me. I have my defenses up, but the amount of ships they have is just insane, and their ships seem to instantly respawn. I came behind a fleet of about 70-80 covie ships that were attacking one of my planets. I completely wrecked them, but when I turned and attacked their planet near mine, they already had over 70 ships there.

Without pics of the map it would be hard to give advice. If you outnumber them then break your fleet into two and hit two targets at once, or at least use half to flank their fleet (attack with one, drive deep into the well, then bring the second in and cover the enemy from front and back).

But if you're looking at a fair fight from them then you should be seeking to improve your economy and uptech, then upgrade your fleet supply and seek to outnumber the enemy.

http://suntzusaid.com/book/6

11: If we wish to fight, the enemy can be forced to an engagement even though he be sheltered behind a high rampart and a deep ditch. All we need do is attack some other place that he will be obliged to relieve.

That whole chapter is honestly pretty great for RTS strategy. Force the enemy to fight on your own terms, don't just sit around waiting for the rape to occur. Find a way to reduce the enemy through harassment or subterfuge.

Yeah, gonna be hard to do this without a map.

Anyways, falsify an attack with a small distraction fleet (sturdy ships like the Halcyon would be recommended) on one planet and then attack a different planet with an actual attack fleet.

Should work, depending on what the AI is doing at the time.

Hell, spam a couple of Marathons at them and nuke clusters of smaller ships, then you can jump in the main fleet with a better numerical advantage and fight them, bomb the planet to ashes and press the attack.

Alternatively, do what Crisiss says and jump in some Halcyons, fleeing to the farthest side of the grav well, then jump in frigates to attack research and economic structures to at least slow their economy down.

I don't think he has much of a chance against 4 Covie AI anyways unless all of his bordering planets are high tac/logistic slot planets. But the UNSC is pretty broken in the public release so anything can happen I guess.

A majority of my bordering planets are have high tactical slots. I have a belt of asteroids that I have a fully upgraded starbase on, and one of the covies just LOVES attacking that. I have an asteroid planet that I took from the enemy, but it's only so defensible.

I'll post a picture of the map in a second. Hold. on.

Here's the current map. Green is using the forerunner portal to attack a few of my planets. Brown is just being a bit of a pain in the butt, but he isn't anything too serious or too hard to deal with. I wrecked yellow's fleet and went straight for his capital and I took it, but he still has a great deal of planets left. Green attacked one of my planets, and I went in and wiped him out, but he took out all of my defenses. Blue attacked Reach and attacked it hard. It was my most defended planet. With over 20 SMACs, a fully upgraded starbase, and about 60 mines. They went in and wiped it all out in a few minutes. I couldn't send my fleet over there because I was already defending on two front, and it was beginning to be a bit troublesome and hard to keep up with.

Spoiler

An update from this picture, I pushed back blue, and took their ice planet, but now yellow is attacking both of the worlds I took from them and blue has a fleet waiting for me to move, so he can capture back his planet.

Hit brown hard and fast with your best ships to secure a flank of some sort for later offensive operations. And secure that Portal with a starbase and smallish fleet when possible teach the greens how to play.

Once those are done then shift your attention to dark blue and hit him hard and fast with starbase ships only a jump away if possible. Once the grav well is secure jump in and start bulilding a Anchor.

After that I can't give you much since there is not much intel on green for me to tell if yellow or green should go first.

IF and this a big damn IF build that ship ASAP you know the one I mean.

Of course this is all running off the last time I played SOTP which was the PT version a long ass time ago.

If I were you Ripley, I would do something similar to Jaeger. Smash Brown so you're no longer being attacked from all sides. While doing that fortify the portal and the planets adjacent it to protect against Green (for the adjacent ones, doesn't have to be much, just precautions like an Anchor.) . After that I would capture the 3 Yellow worlds below yours near the bottom of the map. That limits the ways they can attack so you can focus your defences. Then, if your defences are good at Reach still, move your fleet over and finish off yellow or Blue.I would leave a few ships on the Ice planet as decoys to distract the enemy fleet and have the planet as a sacrifice. Or you could send your fleet to attack the blue planet near the asteroids as they take the Ice one back. That Volcanic is in a fairly good position as it's flank is protected by flood then after that capture Ice back. But if your defences at Reach are destroyed, make the Ice planet your new defensive line and keep your fleet there until they can protect themselves or Blue moves away. Then move your fleet to other matters.

I'm curious what ship you mean Jaeger?

Uni don't kill me for saying this but I meant the Infinity if thats even in still. I haven't touched the game in a while and am no longer a PT so I have no idea whats the game looks like in the PT stage as of now so for all I know the Infinity isn't the god ship it was when I used it.

So Brown is officially out of the picture. Blue has become more aggressive, but never stays to actually take my planets, yellow is tied up with orange, and green has tried assaulting me a few times, but I pushed him out.

Wait, theres a Orange? When did he come into play? Considering that I'd take Blue while Yellow is looking the other way. I've got the same kind of thing in a game I'm playing atm. I think that if two people are fighting each other, let them. It makes it easier to kill both of them after they have been killing each other. So take Blue or take Green then Flank Blue with two armies, he'll be dead in no time.

Sorry about that, I forgot the mention orange. In fact, I haven't even been able to scout out his planets yet, and I forgot about him, but when I saw that an orange fleet was going to fight yellow, I remember that he was there.

When blue attacks next time only send in what you need to defend not what you want to defend. Once blue see they are fucked and start running thats the time to pull the rest in and give chase even if you go to a heavily defended planet keep in pursuit of his fleet so he can't stop to properly reinforce eventually it ill coem to die or fight. Try to make sure no nukes go flying when giving pursuit so you can do a full volley when both fleets finally engage.

or you can take Marshal Zhukov s Quote from ww2
"Quantity has a quality of its own."
that being said get a a battle group of Autumn's with a hunter killer pair of orion's, and support them with a large fleet of stalwarts or paris (I would recommend stalwarts due to less cost on supply and resource and becuase they are close enough to the Paris with MAC damage but get have really good anti-fighter coverage which will help cover the fleet from seraphs and banshees launched from CCS or Salvations. not to mention the ever be damned super-destroyer ((side note what the hell is that thing's class?)) )
and then have at least two Anchor station constructors. (if you are taking a star have 4 ready and have them build as soon as they exit slipspace and get the hangar upgrades asap) after that preform a campaign of planet hopping fortifying each planet as you go... even adding trade and refineries to them will help and designate one planet in the system to become a production planet where the only logistical structures you build are shipyards, this allows you to reinforce your battlegroup without having to wait 3 minutes for it to jump from home.

“Listen to me, Covenant. I am Vice Admiral  Preston J. Cole commanding the human flagship, Everest You claim to be the holy and glorious inheritors of the universe? I spit on your so-called holiness. You dare judge us unfit? After I have personally sent more than three hundred of your vainglorious ships to hell? After kicking your collective butts off Harvest - not once - but twice? From where I sit, we are the worthy inheritors. You think otherwise, you can come and try to prove me wrong. Is that the best you can do? Watch what one unworthy human can do!”
