PLEASE NOTE: This is for the ground component of the mod. I know that at this time the ground component is not finalised or being worked on.

I was having a thought about this.

In Campaign Commander, the dropships attack enemies when they are near the landing site. While this is all and well, I thought that it was a little inaccurate (pelican shoots very accurately, covenant dropships do very little damage). I knew that there was very little ways to change this, but then I thought a bit more deeply.

To differentiate the factions a little more, I thought that maybe the covenant can do more physical damage, e.g. do more damage or shoot more accurately. But its the pelican that the idea mostly effects.

In canon, the pelican's chingun was said to be very inaccurate. I was thinking that we turn this into a more passive thing: the individual bullets do either very little damage or are hugely inaccurate, but it slows down/stuns the units or makes them do less damage; something like a giant ability from the rebel corvette hero surrounding the ship while its shooting. I believe, in theory, this could balance out both factions in that area, but makes them very different as well and separates the mod from others with this idea.

As long as the Peli still did a fairly substantial amount of damage.

Well yeah, just make them very inaccurate so it doesn't abuse the passive ability.

If only FOC allowed you to upgrade the transports (e.g. get them replaced with a different model or upgrade weapons). That would be awesome...

Could you not have it so when you upgrade a tech level the entity for the infantry changes and it comes with a new dropship?

Well we never thought about this option. Just to be sure: You're reffering to dropships only right (and not the replacements for the Juggernaut and the HTT)?

That would be possible yes.

Yes, I meant the dropships, not the HTT or Juggernaut replacements. Tbh, I kinda forgot that you were adding the pelican and shadow as usable units.

I think this would only work for skirmish unless you did that for each and every GC tech level.

You probably forgot because that's not what is in our plans :P The pelican will only serve as a dropship. The Falcon will be the dedicated UNSC troop transport and the Covenant transport hasn't been decided on yet.

Yeah if implemented we're doing this for skirmish. I don't think it would be feasable for GC.

That seems like a sensible decision.
