Hey all you Halo fans and people out there! We've all played some if not all the Halo games out there, and certainly had some songs that stuck with you, or you just simply really liked.

So tell me, what is your number one favorite theme? It can be from any of the halo games but here's the catch: IT CAN ONLY BE ONE SONG. ONLY ONE SONG!

And also WHY is it your favorite song?

 

For myself my favorite theme would be a contest between two of them but in the end it;d have to be Faithless from Halo 4:

 

As for why I like it? I love it because it starts out nice and slow, sort of saying "There's trouble afoot, or something is going to happen soon -get ready!" and then it just speeds up and intensifies the rest of the way. It works well if you're making a large assault on something, or if you're trying to defend against almost impossible odds.

 

I also love it because it played on at least one of my favorite levels in Halo 4 the "Composer" level -Mission 7.I enjoyed it because I loved how the Remnant or "The Storm" was attacking the human station and completely annihilating them -the humans didn't even have a chance. Also I enjoyed it because it played at a decent amount of times in Spartan Ops as well, making a little enjoyable. The "feeling" of the music just feels so good to me if that makes sense.

 

I also say that it was a contest between two of them because "Arrival" would be the very close second.

 

Anyways, what about you lot? What your ONE favorite Halo theme/song, and why?

Has to be 117 for me. Sounds like a "This is it lets kill the bastard" as you fly through the Mantle's Approach.

PS: Neil did a damn fine job with the music in Halo 4 I would love for him and Marty to work together on Halo 5.

I'm choosing one out of four here. It's not really my favourite per se but as your rules state only one. 

 

Spirit of Fire

 

 

 

It's got everything, the drums, the piano, the chorus, little bit of futuristic beeping. Swells and ebbs. Makes for a spectacular driving song. Few Halo songs have absolutely everything combined in that way. Plus everyone at SotP knows that the space element of Halo is severely under-done, so honouring a ship with one of the coolest names in the galaxy with a piece this good is a recipe for success in my ears.  

 

 

Also shout out to the Holy Trinity of Halo 3: One Final Effort (Epic), Finish the Fight (Classic) and Never Forget (so damn emotional).

I would put all the OST from Halo 1 to Reach plus the Anniversary ones, so I don't really have one.

 

But I think this one deserves an honourable mention.

You bastard. One song? ONE SONG! How can i choose just one song. I personally see the Halo soundtracks as THE BEST soundtracks of any game so this is hard. I have the entire Halo soundtrack and am always listening to them. So, my top 1. Hard, VERY hard. I'd say either Insignificantia (All sloppy, no Joe) from Halo Wars or Blow me Away from Halo 2.

Insignificantia is just a epic and yet calming way to finish Halo Wars. I find it says, "Good job, its over now" but being upbeat about it and it still kinda says, "You've finished this fight, you deserve a rest but there'll be another battle after this." Plus the keyboard use in it is just beautiful.

Blow Me Away is just epic as hell. It tells me a story of sacrifice, heroics, a epic fight, unbeatable odds and just being badass. It kinda reminds me of a 'Last Stand against innumerable odds so I'll go out with a bang but save my allies while doing so'. The guitar and drum play is just awesome. It is the ultimate way to end epic fight. I think Blow Me Away finishes this fight.

 

A few other of mine that were in consideration for my favorite were Finale from Halo 2, Finale 2 and Machines and Might from Halo Legends, Never Forget (Midnight Mix) from Halo 4 and All Alone from Halo 3 ODST. Plus all the Menu and Main suites for all games.

 

Overall, Martin, you are amazing and my favorite composer (I'd say FlybyNo would be right behind you with their work on the Endless series soundtrack) and second favorite musician (My favorite would be Muse, a band I've listened to all my life). Your work on Halo is magical. Hope you can work on all the other Halo soundtracks. You even did Destiny justice with that soundtrack. Bungie was a fool for firing you.

Arrival. Amazing piece. Blows Marty's work out of the water IMO. That part of Midnight was probably my favorite sequence in a Halo game, ever. Between the music, the emotions, risks, and actions, it was just amazing.

I like Spirit of Fire a lot too. This comes from someone who is a big RTS/Halo Wars guy, so there's a bit of bias.

I like the Halo 4 main menu music too.

Arrival is easily my Favorite, but in second i think its a three way tie between Blade and Burden, Shattered Legacy and True Arbiter.  All three of those are from the Halo Legends soundtrack (which never seems to get much attention, despite the fact it has some REALLY good pieces that aren't in any of the games, like the three i mentioned)

So I was playing my Halo the MCC collection minding my own shit like usualwhen I saw an update for: HALO 5 GUARDIANS?!? WTF!?! I open it and do to the home screen... Nothing's different (or so I thought) I did some searching and found something GOD DAMN I AM HAPPY! I love this score so much and I
