I think Skirmisher has a point about the Covvie defense though. At the moment, Playing as UNSC, I can split my fleet in two and attack from two different points at once, all the while not having to worry about a serious incursion or counterattack by the Covenant due to the fact that their fleets will be shitting themselves trying to get to their planets to defend against a massive wave of ships.

If the Covenant are supposed to defend with their fleets, buff their fleet cap so they can effectively attack and defend at the same time, or buff their starbase so that its more effective than glad wrap in a nuke blast, or give them a small amount of static defenses that are able to make a UNSC player think twice about attacking a world.

Seriously, do the asymmetric thing by all means. Its a refreshing change from most strategy games I've played. But don't leave one faction high and dry when it comes to defending itself.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Seems to be working fine balance wise to me. If you are a Covenant player and you know what you're doing, you should be just fine. The idea is not to let the UNSC build up defenses and stage these attacks, and if you do, you have failed.

You guys also seem to forget the Haven station exists.

Has the Defense Station operating like a Super Weapon been brought up yet? If I recall correctly, you could set the Super Weapons in Sins to only be available to be built by players after they've reached a predefined amount of planets, allowing for only one every X amount of worlds.
That way, on larger maps, when it gets too hard to organize a response fleet to get halfway or more across the map, Covenant players can plop down a station on a planet they know they'll never get to in time, but is worth defending. That coupled with the possibly highly limited use of the stations would cause a Covenant player to think hard on what is most beneficial to defend. And give the UNSC players something to be cautious of late-game.

Oh that's a bummer. Did they give any particular reason why? Because like what Metanator said before, The Covenant have a hard time defending against the UNSC in general late-game on larger maps.

Then again my knowledge only extends to the current public build and such problems could have already been solved by now in some other way.

Actually, this is currently and has always been and issue(?). The Covenant gets it's ass handed to it on big maps unless there is a territory grab (i.e: like 6-10 players). The more time the UNSC gets to prepare and build up the more fucked you are. As the Covenant on those maps you better hope they're close or you are dead. By the time you find them on these 50-60+ planet maps they probably have better ships than your meager attack fleet you built like 20 minutes ago so it is a recipe for disaster on big maps.

Maybe this is intended, maybe not. I honestly can't say.

You could balance covenant defense platforms by making them cost as much as a frigate, that way the only time you'd ever want to build them is when the UNSC turns into a steam roller.

Yeah that's why I threw out the idea earlier of the Defense Station taking up a super weapon slot, and giving it a high enough planet requirement so that it'd only be used on maps where the Covenant might actually need it.

It doesn't need to be super powerful, if I remember correctly the Energy Projector could only fire about three beams before it needed to recharge for an extensive period of time anyway. It just needs to be strong enough to serve as a mental deterrent or stall for a bit until the Covenant player can mount an actual counter-attack. A single Haven-Class can only do so much against a good escorted Charon spam or two.
