This seems like it going to be discussed a lot so might as well start a thread.

Seems like the game is still very much in early stages of development. An example:

They are using the old UNSC logo, not the new one introduced in Halo 4. I thought that strange. Could mean nothing, could be a slip up, could be to show that this is going to be mainly based before 2552, could be that it is still early stages, pending final 343I approval.

I hope they do some more work on the models (early stages, like I said) but based on their other work I'm not too worried. Have to keep in mind this is for a tabletop board game and things like manufacturing have to be taken into account when the ships are designed.

It will also be great to get some more attention paid to the Halo space canon. Looks like both Spartan Games and 343I are going to be adding a lot of canon, including official class names.

The design of the fake-Thermopylae class is awful as shit, but the ORS doesn't seem that much of a fuss to me. It looks decent.

The rest is ok I guess?

Look again, on the UNSC carrier it's definitely post Halo 4. Which is odd, because they should be using the old UNSC logo, its during the HCW.

I think it looks like a unsc carrier, just from a weird angle.

The Epoch carrier looks like it was inspired by the Spirit of Fire. I honestly don't know if I like it or hate it.

And I'm a bit bugged by the ORS-class cruiser - it looks like a CCS body with a detachable fore section. Looks makes it look out of place compared to the other ships in the covenant fleet. But hey, at least it gives a bit more variety to the covenant fleet.

Also, if you have a real close look at the carrier, you can see the new UNSC logo on it.

The Epoch is built on the Pheonix chassis I believe.

What I don't get (maybe I don't understand tabletop games) is that the SDV is used as the equivelant to the Paris... why?

Probably due to the CCS and CRS looking too visually similar to one and other. Probably would have been better off using the CRS instead of the SDV, and the CPV instead of the CCS, to maintain visual variety. Alternatively, make the CAR a real ship and make up yet another design.

Because the SDV and the Paris are comparable in size. It's seems like your representation of lore is based on sotp, but that doesn' make sotp canon. The SDV is an assault ship and had no problem taking out Savanah. Sure Savanah could have punched a mac hole through it but their firepower is nearly equallyi would say, especially with the range of plasma torpedoes.

It didn't have plasma torps, just the cannons.

The ardent prayer's turrets fired plasma torpedoes. They arced, and didn't fire ina straight line. Plasma turret projectiles do not arc. Just fyi.

I don't remember the shots arcing, plus they were extremely weak.

All warships have plasma torpedoes, the strength of the projectile is based on the ship's reactor. I suggest you do some reading because it had always been this way.

Aware of differences but the UNSC frigate classes are infinitely better than the SDV. Remember no MAC guns or Archers were used in that engagement. They annoyed them with AAA rounds. If the Savannah wanted to kill it, it would have been dead, but that's not the point. I agree with Lavo, CPV and CRS would have been better.

I agree that the SDV is in no way a match for the Paris except with fighters (hell, it did enough damage to collapse the way to the Sabres, and that's only with it'sPDGs), but I think the CAR-class would be the better choice because, as said before, the CRS is basically a scaled-down CCS and the CPV is way big and powerful to be considered the counterpart. Besides, to my knowledge the CAR has no official design (and it seems that the game is in it's early days, so time isn't an issue).

Though they might just say that a more powerful version was available for the covenant

I'm kinda enthused about this project, Halo really needs to explore the space side of the franchise and with any luck, this might be the start of that process. A space based RTS would be nice (though between SINS, Homefront, and CaW it might be a little bit superfluous), but I've always wished they had something like a fighter combat game in the vein of X-Wing or Rogue Squadron, where you get to fly a longsword around a dogfight, and if this game takes off, who knows what could happen?

If they make a space RTS, or really anything in space, they'll shut us all down.
