This subforum is the premiere place to find and post fan-made maps for Sins of the Prophets.

We have customized a version of SoaSE's Galaxy Forge program to make maps that work seamlessly with Sins of the Prophets. You can download that here:

Rules

  • To post a map, create a new thread in this subforum, NOT AS A COMMENT TO THIS STICKIED POST.
  • For the time being, maps should be uploaded to a file hosting site like Mediafire or Dropbox, links that generate the user income, like adfly, are strictly prohibited and after the first warning will result in a ban.
  • Because we're allowing users to vote on topics (1 through 5 stars) only one map per post, so that voting is directly related to the posted map.
  • Conversations in map posts should relate directly to the map at hand (comments, suggestions, advice). Tangents will be removed by moderators and may result in warnings.
  • Post title should include the name of your map, the number of players, and the number of planets and stars.
Format as follows: "Landgrab: 6 Players/7 Stars/75 Planets"
  • Include a picture of the map either as a screenshot from Galaxy Forge or full explored from in-game (easiest way to do this is to start a game with it and then surrender, but stay in the game. You'll see the thing fully explored). Use the spoiler tag on the image.
  • Quality and highly rated maps may make their way into the next version of the mod.
  • Test maps before you post them, ensure they actually work. Maps found to not work will be wholly deleted without warning.
  • No racism, no spamming, no excessive cursing.
  • No reposting/stealing maps and posting them as your own. Derivative work should be posted in comments to the original map.
  • No trolling.

Do you have any document folder or notes that say what kind of bonuses the planets give? I'm trying to make it balanced.

Tropical planets are good for trade in the PT version, not sure about pub. Terran are all around good, greenhouse have high tac slots, deserts and barrens have high logistic slots, ice and volcanic planets are mid-tier and are more for resources, asteroids are more of outposts than anything else. Asteroid belts spawn a whole bunch of resource asteroids. Shield worlds have X chance for Y bonus. Archipelago planets have high populations (esp. with social upgrades). Halos have high population. Dead asteroids are fairly useless.

Can't think of much else.

Bloody Confrontation: 4 Players (2 vs 2) / 1 Star / 59 Planets

It's designed for 2 vs 2 matches, first 2 slots should be a team, next 2 another. The gameplay is pretty simple: you must fight in a tug of war by capturing planets 1 by one until you destroy the last enemy colony. For that, you can fight in the frontlines going to the sun, and to the sides (for that you must destroy a flood world first), or you can attack them from the rear and send a surprise attack using a wormhole.

Take advantage of greenhouse planets to set strong defenses, and be careful with the worlds next to the wormholes as opponents can attack you from the back, plus the flood is going to be a real nightmare.

You start with quite a lot of resources and the gameplay is quite fast paced. any suggestions are welcome.

Can we have to put map images under a spoiler tab? I like exploring maps so having the picture there kind of kills it.

Is there a way to control the number of resource asteroids spawn around a planet?

EDIT: Nevermind, found out how to spawn in resource asteroids
