The Charon-class frigate is meant to be used as a planet killer, not really for combat. You want good combat vessels? Try the thanatos or halcyon.

Well I do also have 40 Stalwart and 30 Paris frigates. My Paris frigates always seem to get targeted first by those Covie bastards!
Whenever I build Paris, thats the general idea...

Naw, I mean I have tons of other ships that get shot up first and the Charons hang back. That's probably why they survive.

It'd help with the late game, but honestly it'd disturb the rest of the upgrade tree too much-- The sense of progress only goes so far in Sins, since the upgrade trees only go 8 deep, and having too many upgrades isn't possible because of Sins memory limits... It's a shame, but the truth.

I think Depending on the finished Covenant tech tree its hard to tell what UNSC upgrades need adjusting / changing for balance issues but I'd suggest the upcoming UNSC shielding technology to be expensive and possibly time consuming as it sounds very unbalanced considering UNSC already have superiority in numbers with the MAC'S on their ships.

What about some sort of "tactics" abilities available to some ships where you could make them stay put or move like a corvette from the vanilla game? If you could apply this to some of the more MAC-reliant ships like the Thanatos that aren't too useful in a sustained fight, that'd be cool because you could make a slashing attack and then zoom off, and by the time your ships got themselves back in range their MACs would be ready again. Although I'm assuming a feature like this might be tough to put in given the limitations you must work inside.

No. Impossible.
And even then, this kind of movement fucks with the MACs according to some post by some modder that I'm too lazy to try and find.

Basically, the Caracole tactic used by Reiters in the mid 17th century. Talk about a manuever that goes nowhere.

lol OK fine. New ideas: re-balancing space mines. I've seen AI fleets that blunder into minefields and lose every light ship they own before they even get close to my Anchor and SMACs. I was thinking maybe tone down the effects on nearby ships while magnifying the damage on the one that actually sets the bomb off. Also, instead of just straight destroying all the nearby squadrons maybe just immobilize them or something (if that's possible). It's just kinda annoying and stupid to have to bring 50 minesweepers to prevent half your fleet from exploding.
