What is being done to make the Covenant better?

Will the game be balanced such that a UNSC and Covenant player with equal skill and equal planets and all upgrades are evenly matched? I think it should be. The understanding I have is that the UNSC will have an incredible late game (Infinity + economy), which is fine, but I don't like the idea that a Covenant player will almost definitely lose just from playing on a map too big to quickly rush across.  I also am skeptical of the UNSC having any sort of disadvantage at the beginning, at least as far as quick colonization is concerned.  The Phoenix is superb at capturing a lot of planets quickly.

This is all based on the latest release, which is way outdated. But I'm under the impression that maybe this current balance is intended for the long term? If so I think it could be tweaked in a few ways. I dunno. Tell me what y'all think.

Just on the point of the Phoenix, you can start off building three of the things as opposed to the Covenants single colony-cruiser, which allows for the UNSC to expand around three times faster.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I say wait for the next release and see where the team is taking sotp in terms of balance first. We know they are doing a total rebuild of the mod and rebalancing everything as they go.

As things are in flux at the moment until the rebuild is finalized and tested, I cannot comment on any exact details. However, I can say that we want the major factor in determining victory to be player skill. Titans are not outright insta-win game items, but the Covie titan does serve a different purpose than the UNSC one. The Covie titan is and always has been a response to overwhelming spam. There are Covenant strategies that can win without ever building the thing. It's purpose is to shoot a lot of things at the same time very quickly. Infinity basically roflfucks single targets while getting a little side action (until you hit level 6 and get the Shiva Barrage ability).

I would say perhaps make the stronger Covenant ships such as CAS and Titan a 2 shot kill from a super MAC? because they both seem a little weak for their prices, against an AI or Human opponent playing as UNSC super MACS are almost always spammed and make it extremely difficult to take any planet. Maybe increase how many cap ships / ships that the covenant get with each upgrade?

The problem i find isnt the SMACS themselves, rather the defensive fleet gaurding the SMACS is what really makes it difficult.

As it should be. SMACs can be wasted by strikecraft launched from carriers hiding at the edge of a gravity well. But to take out the Stalwarts screening the SMACs you have to engage the UNSC fleet and wipe it out before the SMACs wipe you out. Every time you engage a UNSC fortress world you have to take a calculated risk, do I have enough ships to finish off the UNSC fleet, do I need to draw them out before engaging the main defenisve line, should I probe other planets for a weak-spot?

I've completely redone the Covenant's ship stats from the personally. We have also fixed the supply point imbalance that was present, namely that the UNSC could flat out field more supply's worth than the Covvies could. Have no fear, the Covenant will be getting the attention they deserve.
