Covenant Ship Idea(s)

I was poking around the Halo wiki earlier today checking out the different classes of Covenant ships for which there are images and whatnot, when I ran across two things:
First off, there is a picture of the concept art of the CCS-class battlecruiser at the bottom of the wikia page [seen below] that I think looks really nice and is just different enough from the CCS where it could be a ship of it's own with some minor tweaks.

Second, the ORS-class Covenant Heavy Cruiser or the RCS-class armored crusier. As far as I can tell there is only one mention of these ships in the Halo universe and that is in the Essential Visual Guide but there is no actual image for them in there, as far as I know, as I do not own said guide.
And the information on for them is rather limited (understatement of the year).

I was thinking that the concept art could be matched up to one of these classes of ships in order to flesh out the ranks of Covenant ships and so that you guys don't have to come up with any completely new designs.

Anyway that is my thought on the matter and my hope to be helpful. I know you guys are probably concentrating on finishing any issues with the UNSC side of things, but I thought I might as well try and save you guys some work.

I like the human designations for the Covenant ships as well, but Unikraken likes to invent new class names for Covenant units since you're hypothetically playing from the perspective of a Covenant commander.

I like the idea of the Covenant "Super Cruiser/Sniper ship" from the Battle of Reach. Basically this thing was able to camp out and snipe UNSC ships with impunity until the Pillar of Autumn took it out. I've posted a picture and the link to its Halo wikia article below.

dont worry, its going to be in the mod, and it has a sexy model (no texture though as far as ive seen)

That's fair and in my mind more immersive for the player, but what about the use of the artwork here to fill one of those ships roles?

are you going to do this with all of the ship classes for the covenant? it seems like a really good idea for a lot of the ships, but things like the CAS and CCS should keep their original names i think

I'm uncertain since Leviathan has started modifying pre-existing and creating new concept art for us.


are you going to do this with all of the ship classes for the covenant? it seems like a really good idea for a lot of the ships, but things like the CAS and CCS should keep their original names i think


To my knowledge both of those units will keep their human designations. We understand that they're iconic.

Gotcha, well if it doesn't work then I guess I just have to be happy with whatever is created, which I don't think will be too hard. The work I've seen thus far speaks volumes for what's coming up and I look forward to all of it.

My plan is list the UNSC designation for the ships in the description text, but to have a Covenant name for every ship.

I've noticed that sins doesn't allow enough characters for most covenant ship names, even some human ship names. Is there a way to alter that?

Character limit is hardcoded, though work arounds are possible in some areas (ie Name of empires, etc).
