If you have a random event idea post it here :)

 

Here are mine

Random Events:

Didact’s Return: “Time was your ally, human, but now it has abandoned you. The Forerunners... have returned." Mantle’s Approach begins to rampage around the galaxy (if possible starting with human worlds).

New Colonial Alliance: Militia forces slipspace in and lay siege to a UNSC world (economic downturn as well)

Blooding Years:  Sanghelios gets temporary 50% decrease in population, but manufacturing implements of war is much faster.

Great Schism: "The Great Schism is upon us. The unbreakable Covenant Writ of Union has been split asunder. This is the end of the Ninth, and final, Age."

-        Covenant factions all receive a solid negative relationship bonus. 

-        (Tying in with my sub-faction idea, you’d get a solid relationship bonus with the UNSC)

Peace Conference at Ealen IV: Disruption of peace talks at Ealen IV have united the factions against the NCA (+ Relationship bonuses across factions)

Peace Conference at Biko: The disruption of the peace talks at Biko, and the silence of the UNSC embassy has degraded relations (-Relationship bonus across factions)

Jiralhanae raids:  The Jiralhanae launch raids against your colonies (Covenant militia as well as economic downturn)

Unggoy disobedience: Unggoy protests escalate across our core worlds (slows economy, population decreases).

Hero Risen: Vice Admiral Preston Jeremiah Cole and a Fleet of innies jump into one of your systems as the UNSC.

Spirit Reborn: The SoF Returns, and brings with it 3 Spartans, increasing allegiance at that planet.

Independent Invasion: A massive, hostile UNSC Fleet jumps into a world of yours.

Guardian rises!: Cortana has activated another Guardian. (very very rare. Planet is lost unless Anchor is present.)

Brute Raiding Party and/or Jackal Pirates:  A small flotilla of hostile Covenant ships jump into -x- system (Just noticed you have it in yours Stark, consider this a +1 to your idea.)

 

Reclamation:  A Forerunner Dreadnought, with 4 Vanguard-class sentinels,  jumps into -x- system under your control.

 

ONI Security Paranoia: Due to ONI clandestine activities, a planet allegiance decrease, an economic downturn along with a relationship decrease with all UNSC factions, but an increase in military manufacturing speed and a tiny increase in damage.

 

Unity: The Sangheili manage to unify their species under one banner, thus an economic upturn and an increase in planet allegiance for all Covenant factions.

Mantle's Approach class vessel slipspaces on at the a random system star, and attacks ships, structures and planets on soght. Kinda like yhe vsnilla "rogue titan" incursion. Dawn of the reapers fid it woth reaper incursions.

Secret routes: The secret slipspace passageways are leaked throughout the waypoint, alert all commands!

This one is a game changer, it allows your forces to jump to any world with a phase stabilizer as long as your world has one too.

A hostile fleet of Forerunner Retrievers (aka Strato-Sentinels) jumps into a system and begins assaulting (mining) any planets and/or any structures encountered.

I like balance, and balance likes me. Balance would no longer like me if we did that.

This one is a game changer, it allows your forces to jump to any world with a phase stabilizer as long as your world has one too. 

Might be possible, but perhaps not in this exact context. I'll need to check the code but I think that you can have a buff randomly apply to a planet that lets literally every player have a node on it for X minutes. Oh, if only I could see the look on someone's face when that happened to their capital.

 

Some of my own ideas

  • Magnetic Anomaly: Slipspace disabled at gravity well for X minutes, would really screw you in a pitched retreat.
  • Radiation Interference(or some other fluffy name): Reduces range of weapons on everything at a planet, potentially crippling SMAC walls for a limited time. If possible, ill see if I can get it to where abilities aren't effected by this, so you could effectively Shiva snipe.
  • Production burst: planet gets heightened build rates, maybe decrease prices.
  • Energy cloud: weapons fired have a random chance of setting off a energy cloud that has moved into orbit over a planet, dealing heavy damage to the firing ship. This would be a chance sorta thing, like a 30% chance for the weapon to explode in your face.

  • Insurrection: Sever Dozen modified civilian ships appear at a planet and attempt to capture it. (Armed cargo ships and Space Liners, maybe a few pre Human-Covenant war ships.)
  • Unikraken: 7.5km Unikraken appears at a star to bring more versions of SotP to us all. (Pls very rare.)

Logic Plague: (maybe Forerunner specific?) All the AIs aboard ships suffer from a mysterious illness, consequentially decreasing by a lot weapon's RoF, ship's speed and manuevering (for capital ships) and all the abilities.

 

Awakening: Several Forerunner's ships (possibly MA?) appear at a Shield World, reclaiming it for the Empire. Sucks to be you.

On to some, erm, tolerable ideas.

 

  • Titanium Deposits: Increase in Titanium production.
  • Fusion Plant mishap: Planet loses population and production.
  • Uprising: The poor working conditions on this planet have inspired many workers to revolt. (Severe production penalties, if possible limit the criteria for effect to heavily industrial planets.)

  • Dust Cloud (Vaporized Titanium and other metals have created a thick cloud of dust and wreckage, this debris has a tendency to set off the Warheads of Archers and dissolve Plasma weapons. (Reduced Weapons range)

Flood Outbreak: Flood infected ships appear at a random gravity well. (Flood must be enabled?)

 

Excess Reconciliation: Ship jump speeds are increased x2.

Reconciliation Deficit: Ship Jump speeds are decreased x2.

 

Insurrection/Schism: A fleet appears at a random planet that rebels.

Static Random Events:

Kig-Yar Infiltrators: Jackal pirates have released plans of defences of a random world, granting weaker structure armour (or efficiency) and increasing planetary bombardment damage

Wartime Migration: Piracy attacks force citizens to abandon their homes, reducing population and tax income of the effected planet

Security Breached: Sabotures have been discovered on one of your worlds, inflicting a Damage over Time debuff to all entities stationed there

Investment Opportunity: A major corporation has established their headquarters on one of your worlds, granting permanent random buffs to the planet's attributes (maybe a new structure?)

 

Travelling Random Events

Comet/asteroid Bombardment: A comet/asteroid field travels around the galaxy, inflicting severe Damage over Time and production debuffs to each planet it visits

Merchant Fleet: An independent merchant fleet travels around the galaxy. Grants increased refund from scuttling and reduced orbital infrastructure costs and trade bonus at the cost of a massive raw resource production debuff.
