Is it just me or does Windows 10 break everything I use? I installed EaW on my new machine because it's leagues better than my old one for running games (by virtue of hardware and being not a mac), but the game just doesn't work. Starts up then throws an exception and closes. Has anyone managed to get it to work on windows 10?

I haven't actually tried and installed it yet on my new machine, but planned on doing so. Did you try going into properties -> compatability -> compatability mode: run program as (windows 7 or vista)? That sometimes does wonders.

I did try the compatibility workaround, for every version of windows it offers, each with and without admin rights. None worked, unfortunately. Oddly enough the version from GOG works just fine, just not the retail disk version.

I have, via Steam. Didn't have any issues getting it working.

Does EAW log when it crashes? If it does, you might be able to take a look at the logs and see what the issue is...

I haven't noticed any. On my mac it logs, but that's because it's run through Wine, which logs everything it does. I'll double check but I don't think so.

May try messing with graphics stuff too. I assume you've got the latest video card drivers and stuff?
