Well...Um I started this as the Facebook post had pretty much nothing on it and I'd rather not make an account to ask the question as i'm way too lazy and thought that if it was on the forums people could have a better chance of knowing about the Q&A.

 

Also, I do actually have questions to ask.

 

One: Covenant Fleet Tactics (AI). The AI (on Legendary and below, I haven't tested higher) seems to have CAR Frigate fetish, as every time I fight them, their entire fleet, even if it outnumbers me 2 or 3:1 is almost entirely CAR frigates, which means my Infinity can jump into the middle and completely destroy insanely large fleets without even losing it's shield or without needing backup. So, is this issue known or am I the only one getting this, as any competent player (ha, definitely not me) can end a game relatively fast since they can blow aside these fleets by late game easily. So I guess I'm asking if this is an intentional part of the AI's tactics or if this is a mistake (Legendary and Below)?

 

Two: Flood Balance:

And no, this isn't to bitch about the flood being to hard to kill, etc, because honestly, by late game (4+ hours), I have no worries about the flood unless I manipulate my enemies into getting consumed by them. This is especially easy to see on maps like Will of The Gods, where the one flood world can't send out nearly enough ships to take any of the worlds I defend and as such it can only infect the UNSC AIs who never build defenses. And even on Random maps, as long as I set up SMACs/Patrol stations early enough I can repel pretty much any Flood fleet and my ships can take back any uncolonized worlds that get infected. So, is there any plans to buff the flood on a scaleable system (time/research based) or am I just cuckoo for cocoa puffs over here + could there be diplomatic bonus to all races whenever a world is taken by the flood, to show how a galaxy would unite to defeat them when they become too strong (Legendary and below)?

From my understanding, being that of a playtester, the Flood are going to be getting a complete overhaul some time in the future for a number of reasons because, as they stand, they are borked. As for the CAR spam, I think this is the first time I've heard of it so I can't way whether others have the same problem although I'm pretty sure it isn't intentional, just the AI being the AI.


I learn from the past, enjoy the present and look forward to the future.

I haven't had as big of a problem with the CARs to the point that Infinity alone can handle an entire fleet, but i can certainly say that in the AI fleets I fight, anywhere between 50-60% of the entire fleet is made up of CAR-Class frigates.  Even more interesting is the fact that the AI usually doesn't even bother to try and attack with them.  They'll follow the fleet but wont focus on a target like the other ships, and usually halt their advance just outside the range of my ODPs (or at least what they think is out of range, sometimes they screw up :P) allowing the rest of their fleet to be eviscerated.  At that point if i don't have a fleet to mop them up with they usually turn around and retreat from the gravity well, only to join the next attack a few minutes later.

 

Not to say i'm terribly upset about it, were they all CCS or RCS class cruisers i'd probably be fucked (or the DOS, goddamn i hate the DOS).

CAR's are anti-strikecraft frigates. The AI uses them to cover their combat ships, not to attack with, and yes the AI loves spamming them, why? We will never know, as we can't actually make the AI do anything, we can only make things tempting for the AI.

I have some issues with texture colour in which sometimes different assets will change to a default plain texture of their faction colour, I don't have a picture yet to show you but when I change graphics quality it reverts to proper colours and textures, any idea what could cause this?

Modding for a completely different game like Stellaris is a whole new kettle of fish. We aren't done with the current mod as of yet, so no, not in the near future. 

 

That being said, someone else could very well take it upon themselves, so you never know.
