Tried playing an online game with a friend on patch 1 and the check sums were different. We both cleared and then reinstalled the mod and it was still the same. We could play vanilla entrenchment 1.055 together though

I have no idea why that would be the case. Are you sure you're using the exact same download?

Nice double quote sloose. But yes they were they same download, and were both installed fine and played fine on their own. His computer has done some pretty weird shit in the past, so my money is on his computer corrupting some file somewhere.

You could try using a flash drive and copying one copy of the mod over to the other computer...
