On the mission "Midnight" in Halo 4, we can see a unidentified Frigate-class in the background. Even though this Frigate is of a unknown class, I think it'd still be cool for you guys to add it. Here's my source.

UPDATE: I found a much higher resolution photo that looks a lot better. Here you go.

Haha why not? It's a Halo ship. This is a Halo mod.

It's just ugly that's why... besides... they're probably just placeholder ships if anything. (at least I hope...)

Its only ugly because the ship in that picture is a low quality model used for background. The ships in the intro to spartan ops (the charons that came out of the infinity) were pretty badass looking IMO.

I just did a little bit more research into it and found a much better picture. I'll post it here and update the thread with it.

I dont hold it against you, the point got across, and it is a decent point. On that note, the ship in question in both of those pictures (im fairly sure) is the Halo 4 Charon-class light frigate. And, while im 100% certain that the current ingame SotP charon model will be in the rebellion release, i see no reason not to include this new model, possibly linked to the infinity in some way, via ability or some other means.

The lower-resolution one doesn't seem like a Charon. If you look that the pictures side-by-bide, there are noticeable differences between the two, mainly with the panels by the engines and (lack of) outer weapons.

That being said, I believe (as mentioned in a previous topic) that the unknown ships could be something like refit civilian shuttles used to try and rebuild the UNSC Navy quickly after the Human-Covenant War. Since four years doesn't seem to be enough time to build an effective and decent-sized navy, maybe the UNSC resorted to using these ships as a faster method to regain defense fleets in case of any other threats.

it is completely possible that the ship in the lower resolution picture is a paris or stalwart class, or something else entirely, but the shape is very similar to the charon.

Well the way that I look at it, even though this is possible, I think it might be a new type of Frigate. During the Human-Promethean war, the humans became equal in technology to the Covenant, and are quickly discovering more Forerunner technology. You'd think they'd get excited with all these advancements and build more advanced warships of their own class, instead of making upgraded models of previous ships. So personally I think it's a different type of ship, but your idea seems like a possibility as well.

I agree with you about the ship not looking like a Charon, but I disagree about it being a refitted civilian ship. The only reason the UNSC ever refitted ships is because of the Human-Covenant war. These also look much too far advanced for simple civilian shuttles, mainly the hanger bay (you can see it in the back of the ship) being covered by some type of energy field, similar to that of the Covenant. I would doubt the UNSC would put that much effort into a simple shuttle, they'd be better off making new ships to their specifications, especially now that the UNSC has fully shielded warships.

refitted civilian ship

Some of the ships from halo 4 (mainly, the antenna ship) are possibly refit civilian ships, based on how similar they are to the spirit of fire, which was a refit colony vessel. This ship in particular is NOT a refit civilian ship as it shares too much with the charon class seen in spartan ops.

If I put stuff in the mod based on that "its halo, this is a halo mod..." philosophy wed have Super Assault Carriers, Nova bombs, and a bunch of other shit. There is more to it than just, hey it was in the game! For Halo 4 stuff ill wait. Even Bungie changed the frigate class names around between halo 2 and 3. Will it make an appearance in Rebellion? Probably not. Is it on the table? Yes. No where in the entire world of canon is there an actual statement that said "Humans are now equal to Covenant in technology" while I dont doubt they have come a long way since 2542, there is a huge gap. Id believe that they are equal only in that Covenant  have fallen into dis repair after their civil war and have actually gone backwards in technology and humans have caught up. I dont believe hey have hit the same peak the covenant once did.

UNSC ships probably would have been older ships refitted with new technology to test if it worked large scale. What better testing opportunity than to refit a bunch of older ships probably headed for the scrap yard? Current Modern day navies do it.

I typed up a large response here to a few posts then forgot to post it and closed the browser, so I'll cut this one short out of frustration.

Not everyone will agree with our choices, not every ship excites every user. We do plan on including the new Charon class frigate. I think of it like the Lightening fighter planes. The first iteration of the Rebellion release will be a barebones update from the Entrenchment release with only the required changes. After that we'll begin iterating the timeline of the game to post Halo 4, including the addition of new Charons and the UNSC Infinity.

We are not doing loyalist/rebel factions in Rebellion. However, we will be doing some complicated changes to research, wherein someone will basically choose from the new UNSC or the old, meaning more expensive, but shielded ships versus large numbers of less powerful ships. The Infinity will not be the only titan. More info to come on this at a later time, so no questions please. The other ships seen in Halo 4 will likely not make it into the game, but may if we decide we have time to dick with them and come up with good reasons to include them gameplay-wise.
