[Bornstellaris]

Finally, the long awaited modelling competition voting time. There will be no voting committee, instead, the fans will decide who will be crowned King Modeller. Unfortunately, almost half of the people who signed up, didn't hand in anything for me to post. That's ok though, we have 5 eager contestants vying for top prize. The way this will work is this, the renders will be posted just below here. They will be labelled 1,2,3,4 and 5. This is to stop people from voting purely by name. Now I ask the contestants to not say which render belongs to who, this will spoil the fun. Voting will last 1 week. Good luck everyone, let the voting begin. (If any contestants who have not handed in anything do so in the next 24 hours, they will be allowed in)

Dude I love this kinda things.

 

Number 1 is really detailed but it's too similar to every UNSC ship, stocky, squared, heavy...it's good, but...

I'm in love with number 4's countours, but it is little detailed.

I say number 5 is tippy-top. The stern, smooth and at the same time angry, makes the deal for me.

Heh I am quite sure many will recognize who did what and it's not that hard to figure out

 

Before I start voting I have a few nitpick questions though:

- Wouldn't it be easier to either disqualify those who haven't met the deadline or wait untill all entries are in? Now it's an unfair competetion as votes for the later entries will be automatically less. 

- How are we supposed to vote? Can we only make 1 vote or can we make a top  3? Can we vote double? I feel there is a lack of rules. 

- Will there be a way to give feedback to the creators? Part of the reason for doing this was that it would be a good learning experience (do I recall that correctly?), so it seems fair to give feedback and/or elaborate on why you voted for a certain entry (like SternuS does).

It'd be great if every answer from now on could be like SternuS'. Only one vote is allowed and if we waited until all entries were in or until they confirmed they can't be in it, my children still wouldn't be able to post this. For example, I haven't been able to contact lord_set for a month and a half. People can change their votes if a better entry comes along, I don't mind people changing votes multiple times.

4 is a nice overall design and I would have chosen it had it been more detailed. But the amount of detail in 1 tipped me over the edge.

Thanks Ember. It would have been better if everyone had put in something but at least there was this many people onboard. Next time I do something like this I'll try and spread if a lot wider.

Entry 6 is being taken out temporarly due to the poly limit being way over the limit. I'm taking with the creator of the model to see what we can do about it.

I like them in this order first to last-

5, Elegent design, tries to keep away from the standard arrangement of blocks and squares.

1, Certainly screams UNSC, nice hull detail though.

2, Another that tries to stear away from the generic flying shoebox design if a little plane looking.

4, Anyone else seeing a battlestar? nice shape but uninspired hull detail.

3, Lots of elegent curves and a little bulbous at the front but very little hull detail.

Entry 1 is no shocker for its quality based on who it came from, but I'm also pleasantly surprised by Entry 5. Good show, everyone.

Entry #1 is the clear favorite with 18 votes to its name. Trailing loosely behind is entry #5 with seven votes and we have #2 and #4 on 1 vote. Sadly entry #3 currently has no votes.

It's also good to have everyone doing a custom designed ship.

I'd also like to point out that every ship up there is very close to the 5,000 poly limit.

Ok, seeing as its fairly certain which entry is going to win lets try something different. The original plan was to not reveal the names of the people who did the renders until the end. Im going to reveal who did which render and I'd like the people of the good SotP community to give feedback to the creators of the models.
