With the rebuild coming to a head here soon we need to refresh our playtesting corps. Read the entire post before applying. Reading comprehension failure is an automatic disqualification.

Reply to this thread with the information requested in a readable format for consideration to be a playtester for Sins of the Prophets. Do not reply to applications or other comments in this thread. Submit your application and await a personal message from staff if you are selected. If you receive no message you are not being denied conclusively, we may have enough testers at the time or we may be too busy to check the forum at the present time. DO NOT pester staff about your status after applying, it will result in you not being selected.

Testing will often involve you being asked to do things you don't personally find amusing but are necessary for mod quality assurance. You may be asked to play factions you don't enjoy, game types you don't enjoy, or to use tactics you're not familiar with. Becoming a playtester is a commitment of time and attention. While testing can be fun, it may not always be, and lacking in duties will result in being removed from the testing corps.

From the week you file your application here until the rebuild is considered ready for testing (which is when we'll begin combing through the applications and "hiring" testers), you are expected to be an active member of the forum in order to be considered for a playtesting slot. This is a demonstration of your commitment to the mod effort and proof you will stick around to actually do the job required of you once hired. Once you are a tester you'll be required to participate in private discussions about the mod on this very forum, so inability to participate is proof positive you're not a good fit for the team.

Required information for application:

Steam ID (update your application if you happen to change this)

Have you previously been a playtester for the mod?

How often would you be able to test the mod?

How often can you play multiplayer games?

Can your internet bandwidth handle you downloading several gigabytes of data?

Do you know how to download and install programs on your computer without someone standing over your shoulder?

What is your age? (There is no age minimum but Immediate disqualification if we find you lied about your age. Mental maturity is the key for making the rank.)

What is your state or (if not USA, country) and timezone?

Do you speak any non-English languages?

How long have you been a Halo fan? (List time periods or years, not "oh a long time")

Why do you think you'd be a good playtester for the mod and what do you think you bring to the table that other applicants do not?

Previous playtester? No.

How often can I test the mod? Very likely that I could do it daily but definitely weekly.

How often can I play MP games? Most likely when I'm not testing on my own.

Can my Internet bandwidth handle several gigs of data? Yes.

Can I download and install programs independently? Yes.

Age: 15

State: Ohio (GMT- 5:00 hours) Eastern Time (US & Canada)

Do you speak non-English languages? Very little Spanish and even less German.

How long have I been a Halo fan? Since Halo 3 was released so about 8 years.

Why do I think you'd be a good play tester and if so what do you bring that others do not? I do not know about others, but I personally know that I will be able to test and provide info and input almost daily and certainly weekly at that. I have a deep love for all things Halo so I would have a certain type of commitment to this mod and it's creators. I would also like to get more involved currently and I see this as my chance since at this moment there is not much to get involved with.

Steam ID:

My Steam ID is STEAM_0:0:59627730 (Or if you where referring to my actual steam name nor profile link, my steam account name is 'Winter ♥'s Angel' and my account link is http://steamcommunity.com/id/Skupy/ .)

Have you previously been a play-tester for the mod?

No I have not.

How often would you be able to test the mod?

Any day of the week, and most weekends.

How often can you play multi-player games?

Any time that I am connected to the internet, which basically all the time.

Can your internet bandwidth handle you downloading several gigabytes of data?

Yes, it can.

Do you know how to download and install programs on your computer without someone standing over your shoulder?

Yes I do. I am a current preliminary student in software design and development and I basically am expected to know how to install anything on my own.

What is your age?

I am 16 years old. (Turning 17 this year, which doesn't matter but I'm telling you anyway.)

What is your state or (if not USA, country) and time-zone?

I live in New South Wales, Australia, and my time-zone is GM [+10:00].

Do you speak any non-English languages?

No I do not, unless you count a couple words in Finnish and Polish.

How long have you been a Halo fan?

I have been a halo fan ever since 'Halo: Combat Evolved' came out, and I have bought every single game in the series along with the others ever since.

Why do you think you'd be a good play-tester for the mod and what do you think you bring to the table that other applicants do not?

I think I would be a great play-tester for this developing mod because I can put all the time and effort needed into fulling testing and squashing out any bugs/glitches or any other requirement that would need my attention. I do realise that play-testing isn't fun and because I'm such a perfectionist (If the formatting of this isn't proof enough) I will be willing to try out anything that is needed to be done, and I mean it when I when I say anything, no matter how boring nor fun, spending every day to any second needed to help resolve any issue that I may stumble upon, no matter what.

Do you know how to download and install programs on your computer without someone standing over your shoulder? Yes

Do you speak any non-English languages? French and a (tiny) bit of Spanish

Why do you think you'd be a good playtester for the mod and what do you think you bring to the table that other applicants do not?

Since honesty is the core principle here I must admit : I wish to work in the gaming industry. Thus, I must have experience (deep or not) in its many fields. Play testing this mod and doing it right (more likely being told how not to do it wrong^^) with other people is an opportunity for me.
Moreover, if I can help to male this mod ever more enjoyable for the community to play, I'm all in.

Steam ID (update your application if you happen to change this)

- SoupOfDoom

Have you previously been a playtester for the mod?

- No.

How often would you be able to test the mod?

- Daily, during evenings/nighttime.

How often can you play multiplayer games?

- All the time, got no bandwith-restrictions, offline periods or such.

Can your internet bandwidth handle you downloading several gigabytes of data?

- Yes, definitely.

Do you know how to download and install programs on your computer without someone standing over your shoulder?

- Yes.

What is your age? (There is no age minimum but Immediate disqualification if we find you lied about your age. Mental maturity is the key for making the rank.)

- 25 years.

What is your state or (if not USA, country) and timezone?

- Germany, Schleswig-Holstein, CET/UTC+2 (atm)

Do you speak any non-English languages?

- Yes, German, French and a little Spanish & Japanese.

How long have you been a Halo fan? (List time periods or years, not "oh a long time")

- For 15 years now, I'd say. I followed the whole franchise closely since it got announced back in the day for PC (as the big-ass open-world shooter to overturn all of action gaming and graphics/gameplay/whole shebang standards) in 2000. It was my first "game hype" in my life and continued for several years until 2011. Even today I thoroughly enjoy it whenever I get my hands on a console and the game or dust off my old copy of Halo PC.

Why do you think you'd be a good playtester for the mod and what do you think you bring to the table that other applicants do not?

- First of all, I love to play Sins (4X, strategy games and RTS in general) and have ever since (pun intended) it got released. But after a few years of matches against the AI you either begin to try out stuff that you are not supposed to do (at least in Singleplayer) or reside to MP. Concerning SP, that went as far as that I've been going bug-hunting for the STA 3-mod since CTA was released due to Sins' special AI, which I never have seen to really change so far.

I can really immerse myself in the lore of the Halo Universe, but not to that extent that I become a childish and annoying fanboy of sorts, but rather want to play a consultant role in discussion. You know, something like an "old wise dude", who you come for when there's some enjoyable story to be told about the beginning and history of Halo in general or lore-specific topics. Or if someone needs tech-support, which I believe I'm really good at.

Furthermore I consider myself a fair, serious and sincere type of player and get along well with other players in MP, no stupid cursing, rage-quitting or any sorts of exploits. It's all about the competition, which leads to the task at hand: I will do my best to report back and bring in as much constructive criticism as possible, especially regarding but not limited to balancing, bugs, typos and tech issues.

Sincerely,

Red

Have you previously been a playtester for the mod?

I haven't, but I've modded the coding of it for personal use.

How often would you be able to test the mod?

Daily, prefferably at night.

How often can you play multiplayer games?

Depends, anything but friday.

Can your internet bandwidth handle you downloading several gigabytes of data?

No problemo, my country is basicly the internet portal to Europe.

Do you know how to download and install programs on your computer without someone standing over your shoulder?

I hate when people need help with things like that…they usually ask stupid questions too.

What is your age? (There is no age minimum but Immediate disqualification if we find you lied about your age. Mental maturity is the key for making the rank.)

21

What is your state or (if not USA, country) and timezone?

The Netherlands, Europe GMT +1

Do you speak any non-English languages?

Dutch (The Netherlands)

How long have you been a Halo fan? (List time periods or years, not "oh a long time")

Started on Halo CE when I was 14 or something. Know just about everything lore-wise with the exception of the books.

Basicly all games, comics, shows, anime(Legends). I've led a clan in Halo Custom Edition for 2 years, then I quit because I lost interest in the game.

Why do you think you'd be a good playtester for the mod and what do you think you bring to the table that other applicants do not?

I've been modding sins for +/- 5 years. Haven't been part of any modding team of sorts but my friends rely on me to adapt existing mods and add features we'd like to see for personal entertainment.

Examples:

- In the original mod UNSC allies can't jump to eachother's slipspace nodes. Fixed it by adding the Vasari's research perk to the slipspace beacon research.

- Gave the flood a flying astroid that spawned 50 infectors. Basicly a flood-mothership kind of idea. Makes 'em more annoying.

- Increased time flood need to infect targeted ship, giving player the option to still scuttle it in time. (Infected Thermopylea's)

- Since Infinity isn't released yet, made the Thermopylea bigger with resize.exe and made it stronger because we really wanted a titan.

- Changing the sounds of the autocanons and MAC canons, no offense to your sounddesigner, but I prefer big guns.

- Tons and tons of hours put into debugging a mod when sins updates again.

I'm a Composer and sounddesigner by profession with sins coding knowledge. I don't mean to offend your original work with said above.

Have you previously been a playtester for the mod?

No, I have not playtested this mod before.

How often would you be able to test the mod?

At the most, daily, at the least, weekly. However, I am usually busy during the weekends, so those days would be a no-go for me most of the time.

How often can you play multiplayer games?

As often as required. I'm connected to the Internet on all my platforms practically 24/7, whether or not I'm at my desk is the issue; As I stated before, weekends (Saturdays, Sundays, and actually Mondays too) are when I'm most busy. I have a social life, a job, and certain responsibilities that I have to attend to over the week as well, but with all of that, I am still an active person when it comes to online play.

Can your internet bandwidth handle you downloading several gigabytes of data?

Unlimited Gigabit Internet, so yes, it should be able to handle it.

Do you know how to download and install programs on your computer without someone standing over your shoulder?

Yes, I can. As long as you don't ask me to code in Ruby, I'm fine.

What is your age?

Old enough to know better to lie about my age; 209-- No, scratch that, I'm 139! Being ridiculously old has to garner me some points.

What is your state or (if not USA, country) and timezone?

Pennsylvania, +5 Eastern Standard Time.

Do you speak any non-English languages?

Spanish, Italian, Russian, Japanese, and a little bit of German. I'd like to note, I'm not exactly the most fluent in any of them, as I had to learn them because due to business related reasons. Need to know where the nearest library is in Spanish-- Then I've got you covered!

How long have you been a Halo fan?

August of 2004, the beginning of the "I Love Bees" campaign. Within technicality, I have actually briefly played Halo before then at LAN parties, but at the time I didn't know what exactly Halo was.

Why do you think you'd be a good playtester for the mod and what do you think you bring to the table that other applicants do not?

I'm just another meat slab that'll break your mod for you-- I'm free, too. In all seriousness, I've actually tested several games, mods, and software launches, and have gotten paid to do so in the past. I also happen to have a basic understanding of the Sins Engine, so being able to do something to the script, etc, should be relatively straightforward with me. Those are my practical skills, and experiences that would be useful for playtesting this specific mod. Outside practical skills I have 10+ years of experience in writing, editing, and community management. The only thing out of all that, that could possibly come in handy, is the writing-- You need to know how to write in order to record a concise list of detailed explanations for bugs, exploits, and long articles filled with constructive criticism. Other than that, there's not much else I can sell you on... Perhaps my cynical sense of humor? No? Alright then, I think that's all I've got.

Have you previously been a playtester for the mod?

No, I have not play tested this mod before.

How often would you be able to test the mod?

At least 2 hours to the maximum of 5 hours on weekdays and at least 4-5 hours weekends to a max of 16 hours.

How often can you play multiplayer games?

During weekends.

Can your internet bandwidth handle you downloading several gigabytes of data?

Yeah, no problem.

Do you know how to download and install programs on your computer without someone standing over your shoulder?

Yes.

What is your age?

20.

What is your state or (if not USA, country) and timezone?

Singapore, UTC +08:00

Do you speak any non-English languages?

Chinese.

How long have you been a Halo fan?

Since 2007, when I first got my hands on a copy of Halo 3 together with my friends. The game was glorious, but only later did I find out that the lore, was fantastic.

Why do you think you'd be a good playtester for the mod and what do you think you bring to the table that other applicants do not?

I don't really have anything special to provide, in all honesty I will just try my best to break your mod and report issues and bugs I may come across when I test your mod. However I will be able to be active on your forums as I spend nearly all my time online due to the nature of my studies.

Have you previously been a playtester for the mod?

Not in the sense that I've tested unreleased content, but I have more than 3 day's worth of time exclusively on released versions of the game.

How often would you be able to test the mod?

Anytime I fancied to, seeing as I have the summer off, more or less. no less than 20 hours a week.

How often can you play multiplayer games?

any time I decide to organize it with my friends, which is fairly often since most of my friends have this game

Can I handle gigabytes of data at one time?

easily

Do you know how to download and install programs on your computer without someone standing over your shoulder?

I'm usually the one standing over other people's shoulders, to be honest.

What is your age?

19 years, 3 months, something number of days. Physically, but mentally I'm in my late 20's

What is your state or (if not USA, country) and timezone?

Michigan, Berrien County, Eastern Standard Timezone

Do you speak any non-English languages?

Spanish but not fluently, and scraps of french and conversational in german.

How long have you been a Halo fan? (List time periods or years, not "oh a long time")

I've been a halo fan ever since Halo II came out. I've read all the books, played all the games, collected most of the skulls, found most of the easter eggs, and have even written an extensive paper on how the UNSC would have won the war, elaborating on technological what ifs, to ground tactics and grand strategy, to the effectiveness of the Spartans in the war proper, and went around to elaborate how the UNSC was in fact slowing the Covenant's advances and even dealing immense blows against them during the war, examples being K-49, Psi Sepentis and Operation Torpedo, and drew the conclusion that had the UNSC had 1.5 times the Number of planets, (about 1200 then) and was more Federation-structured to ease tensions between the outer colonies and the central structure, thus minimizing the Insurrection, the UNSC would have won the war outright especially given new material on how With energy shielding UNSC vessels were more than a match for their Covenant counterparts. If you want I can give you the paper, but it's unorganized and switches thought tracks every now and then.

Why do you think you'd be a good playtester for the mod and what do you think you bring to the table that other applicants do not?

I genuinely care for this mod. You've seen my commentary on the photos, and the questions I've postulated concerning certain statistics on UNSC and Covenant Vessels. I write in depth when I'm describing certain scenarios and bugs concerning the builds, and I've always given my honest opinion. I still think the Infinity is overpowered compared to the equivalent covenant ships of equal size and tonnage, and that the Covenant Titan is the only thing worth fearing when commanding a late-game UNSC Fleet, since the average covenant ship in a fleet to fleet battle doesn't have the capability to destroy their UNSC counterparts because their alpha damage is far too low, and the cradle repairs damage too fast and too uniformly. Late-game I'm consistantly losing around 15-20 ships against covenant fleets bigger than mine, yet every time I meet them I overwhealming crush them. I'm not the best speller, but I really do care about how the mod progresses, and while some others here who might give you what you want to hear, I'll give you my most honest opinion and will keep giving you honest criticism because I have nothing to lose if you say yes or no, and everything to gain by giving you the most relevant and honest feedback.

How often can you play multiplayer games?

How long have you been a Halo fan? (List time periods or years, not "oh a long time")

Since Halo 3, in 2007 so about 8 years now.

Why do you think you'd be a good playtester for the mod and what do you think you bring to the table that other applicants do not?

I will work for free and am unlikey to sue for sexual harrasment or benefits.

I also play games rather rigorously, and mess around with the codes and the like in games to suit my personal tastes, although I am not very good at it, so please don't misinterprate that. I enjoy Halo and have been following this mod for over a year now and am just interested to help it out in anyway I can.

I also am going to be playing this mod anyway, in the current state I have in over the summer, so I might as well help playtaste while I am at it.

Previous Playtester?: nope

How Often Can I Play?: I'd say everyday, but the game has been giving me problems on my new monitor at one house so I can only play easily at one home, I can for sure play Tuesdays and every other weekend

How often can I play MP games?: Any time,

Can my internet handle many gigs of data?: Depends on the time frame, as long as it isn't every day I need to download a few gigs I'd be fine

Can I download and install programs independently?: easily

Age: 15

State?:New York and timezone is EST

Do I speak non-english language?: I know some spanish but not nearly enough to translate a game with

How long have I been a halo fan?: Since Halo 1, I remember it being the first game I ever played. I was very young, and it has had such a profound impact on me that I am considering buying a xbone just for Halo:MCC

Why do I feel I'd be a better playtester than others?: Maybe this is an unorthodox answer, but I feel like I have a relatively high end PC (4690k, 8GB of RAM, 290x, SSD maindrive, 1440P monitor) so I feel like I would be able to do some high end testing if you guys were to need it

if you guys don't pick me because i can't play everyday I'd understand, I need to test some things out as the 1440P monitor has given me trouble with some games, and I am pretty sad it (Sins) doesn't work easily anymore.

My Steam name is sird31mos.

I have not previously been a playtester for this mod.

I am able to test on a daily basis.

Ditto for multiplayer games, with one caveat: my brother and I share a computer, as we cannot afford another. We work on an alternating system of turns; one day I will have it until 7 P.M. (my time), and the next I will have it from 7 P.M. onward, and so on.

My bandwidth can handle downloading files in the tens of gigabytes, and it is not uncommon for me to do so.

I had enough people standing over my shoulder in my younger years to be able to take care of myself. I'm a big boy now!

I am 19 years of age.

I live in Utah, Mountain Time Zone.

I have a rather rough understanding of French, though I struggle to form sentences.

I've been a fan of Halo since the original game's release, 14 years ago, when I was only five or six. I've been playing it for literally as long as I remember, and it's fair to say it played a large part in developing my identity as a gamer.

Patience. I don't believe I'm the most capable or knowledgeable of playtesters, but I'm more than willing to undertake boring or tedious tasks for hours on end.

I am a naturally philosophical and industrious evil.

It's all or nothin' baby, it's never ever maybe

You think I might be crazy, but I gotta be ALL IN

1) Steam ID (update your application if you happen to change this)

The Rip-meister.

2) Have you previously been a playtester for the mod?

Yes, I have!

3) How often would you be able to test the mod?

Whenever I have free time, which won't be too often, since I'll be dealing with both work and school.

4) How often can you play multiplayer games?

Whenever they're available.

5) Can your internet bandwidth handle you downloading several gigabytes of data?

Absolutely!

6) Do you know how to download and install programs on your computer without someone standing over your shoulder?

Generally speaking, yes. Unless it's some intricate program that doesn't come with instructions.

7) What is your age? (There is no age minimum but Immediate disqualification if we find you lied about your age. Mental maturity is the key for making the rank.)

I'm 19.

8) What is your state or (if not USA, country) and timezone?

South Carolina, EST.

9) Do you speak any non-English languages?

No, I do not speak any other languages other than English, sadly. I would like to learn  Hebrew, Greek, or Italian, though.

10) How long have you been a Halo fan? (List time periods or years, not "oh a long time")

Since Halo 1 came out, so 14 years.

11) Why do you think you'd be a good playtester for the mod and what do you think you bring to the table that other applicants do not?

Well, I was a playtester before, so I do know what's expected of me(even more so now), and I am willing to put up with a lot of stuff. I'm meticulous and rather nit-picky, so if something is wrong, or off, I'd most-likely notice.
