and i think that question is getting on your nerves but are you playing to bring an update this year or not???

In short: we're trying, but we're not really moving forward thusfar. The next (news) update will probably be about us looking for new staff or announcing new staff.

I put a lot of blame on maps, I think the mod needs much bigger maps than currently allotted. Would make rushing as the Covenant more difficult and would give the UNSC slightly more time to build up. Charons are just the best bang for their buck, and are a definite necessity on higher difficulties. It's not worth going for the bigger, high tier ships as aside from the Orion (that MAC baby) they just don't give the same returns that small ships do. I like the Midlothian a lot though.

Glad to see fighter/bomber spam is being reduced.

One thing I definitely hate is the CCS texture, if it's even textured. I can't deal with the white (the CCS has a lot of iterations) if that's the version you are going for.

The bigger UNSC ships need revisiting in cost or build time, because as is they are obliterated before they do anything useful besides eat plasma torpedoes.

I like to try and play higher difficulties but the Covenant just fucks you so hard it's nearly impossible.

Another thing, I think the UNSC should have the upgrade system on it's cruisers and carriers. The Covenant has a standardized navy, while the UNSC is notorious for modifying their ships for further combat effectiveness. Pillar of Autumn and Everest to name a couple.

Are nuclear missiles planned to be implemented? I feel that would help a lot.

It is textured and it's pretty refined if you zoom in. But again, we don't have a dedicated texture artist. I am honestly quite surprised it doesn't look that bad if you consider this. Obviously if we could get a texture artist somewhere that'd be great. They are rare though, I mean Zero is the only one within our combined Dev teams AFAIK...

That would make sense from a canon point of view, but not from a gameplay point of view. The decision to create such a system was entirely due to gameplay considerations. The keyword being flexibility. I think I covered those bases in the playtester section, so I will refer to that thread for now :)

It's uncommon to do, but I am going to quote a summary I did for the new Dev section of the discussion we had:

We received a question about whether or not we will be including nukes. The UNSC does posses nukes in canon. The drawback in FoC would be that it is a very powerfull weapon for the relative small levels. Thusfar there is an agreement that nukes should be in, there is no agreement about the implementation.

I can assure you that, the discussion on implementation is a quite difficult one. And as I recall correctly, we're not the only ones having difficulty implementing them. SotP seems to have been succesfull thusfar and considering

Crisiss, I found a map that did help me win against the covenant. Can't remember the name, but it was an asteriod field with a nebla in the centre. The only place where there are no asteriods are 'paths' that lead straight to the starbases. These are where the AI do most of their fighting. There are also 3 mining factilities - one on each side of the asteriod field, and one in the nebla. If you just ignore the asteriod fields, then its pretty easy to take the fight to their starbases - just get a largish force and go through the asteriod straight to their starbase. With 2 enemy AIs, the covenant just pretty much focus on killing each other in the centre.

W = weapons, S = Shield (refer to: http://www.moddb.com...-the-june-patch). For now they only increase numbers in the code, so you don't see anything. You will notice the ships get tougher though. In the future the idea was to add more special abilities to the ships. But we never got around to that, for the same reason I keep repeating: we're understaffed.

Aside from the fighter spam issue that other poeple have brought up (and is eveduatlly getting fixxed at some point), the one really big issue I have is with the UNSC shipboard MAC guns. I've found it very diffiult to run any kind of fleet action with them in thier current state, as having them manually activated means I'm constantly having to jump from ship to ship to ship in order to effectively use them. For a very small fleet (say, a dozen or so so ships) its managable if you set up hotkeys, but as the fleets get larger coodinating things becomes expontially harder. Would it be possible to run MAC guns with the same code the Aggressor class ship from vannila EaW (at least from the smaller ship classes?), because having them automatically use thier MAC guns would be very helpful.

If that's untenable, does anyone know of a "real time with pause" type mod that would let me pause the match and issue orders to the fleet (I know the UFO Afterblank series uses a system like this)? That would really help make the amount of mirco-managingment the UNSC fleet requires a lot less stressful, and would match the lore, with the UNSC using AI's to cooridante their fire, like at Sigma Octantis IV.

Use that little pause button above the radar.

Even so, I like the aggressor destroyer type approach to it. I think that would be better than the ability.

I think the Orion should have manual fire.

If you take the automatic rout, then you lose the ability (to a certain extent) to fire volleys, which is a staple UNSC tactic, if my memory serves. Perhaps placing the MAC ability on autofire as a default would be a compromise? This allows for either letting the AI take care of firing (the rules of which can be controlled fairly easily via LUA) or setting the control to manual to allow for specific, user-driven targeting.

Just an idea, but to me it seems to be the best of both  :)

AI has a tendency to go full retard and do the opposite of what I tell it to.

You don't really lose the ability to fire volleys. I could do aggressor volleys just fine. The purpose of a MAC is "kill shields and one hardpoint" anyways.

Which is why it's currently set on manual. Clicking the target and than hitting the MAC button should always give you a hit. Though I understand that this kind of micromanagement can be bothersome given our balancing choices.
