This is a old thread of mine back on the Halo waypoint forums from months prior, kinda ignored, but i know how you guys are about speculation, so i figured this would be good thing to discuss again.

Previously on halo waypoint:

Ok this is probably a very weird question, but it is not impossible to think that maybe there will be more infinity class vessels in halo 5. After all the UNSC Infinity's mark is INF-101 so what if like there is a whole fleet next game. With like INF-102 or INF-103. Now i know it is kind of crazy, being that INF-101 has everything fourunner the UNSC had laying around thrown into it for something, but what if the other infinity's were made with UNSC stuff only (Like not having the prototype fourunner engines installed on them that INF-101 did). I personally think the UNSC could pull it off. Maybe not hundreds of INFs but a few. What do you think?

If this reads weird, this was from a while back, so sorry about that.

I think it may be possible.

Possible and good for the mod. If there's multiple Infinitys being slung around it would be nice to have at least some support for the idea from the 'official' story.

INF101 is just its hull classification, 10 stands for experimental/prototype/special purpose 1 is variant 1.

Highly unlikely that experimental classifications get a second variant.

Also think about the immense cost of the infinity and the time it took to build it.

Im torn in my hopes, i want it in cannon cause why not? but i dont because then SOTP would have to include more, thus they would be balanced for numbers, so, like i said, im torn.

Definitely possible in the future of the franchise, but jesus I'm disliking the idea of humanity being some sort of mega-superpower in the post-trilogy.

Hopefully we have a civil war or have to face down some centurions or something.

I hate the idea of another civil war yet i feel the urge to support this for a reason im not sure about.

I think you misunderstand. I still only envisage 1 per player (AI or human), but you can have multiple players with 1 each. So if it's a 2v2, you have a maximum of 4 titans and in the mod they could all be Infinitys (helluva civil war there). My issue is if Infinity is one of a kind, then you can't explain this, as I don't think a universal cap can be placed and that would be a little unfair (Infinity rush anyone?). By introducing more Infinity-class ships into the official story, this frees up this aspect of the game to be, if you like, lore-friendly.

Also, grammar check: Do we go Infinities or Infinitys? I know the latter is wrong fundamentally but in the circumstanced I'm tending towards it.

Technically Moustachio is Infinity-class vessels..........

And no I dont think there will be more of her class. Why? She is a starship technology demonstrator. They will be other ship classes that take the lessons learned from Infinity. Think the USS Enterprise that was just retired from the US Navy. She was the first Carrier to be nuclear powered. Now look at the Nimitz class carriers that are currently in the US Navy. The US Navy took the lessons learned from building the Enterprise and built them into the Nimitz class. The UNSC will do this with the Infinity. There will be ships based off of the Infinity. However, they will not be of her class.

If 343's using any sort of logic then I think the chances of the UNSC building more Infinity class ships is slim to none. It just isn't economically viable, or, at any rate, a good thing to spend your money on when you've just won the costliest war in human history

Exactly, the UNSC has to rebuild its battle line. So it has to produce Autumns Stridents and other support ships. Remember, Infinity needs escorts and 10 Frigates is not a battle group it is a frigate screen. And one battle does not constitute a fleet.

I thought it was interesting that in Escalation the pursuit of Jul 'Mdama was reassigned to the UNSC Vociferous.  What other UNSC vessel could pursue a Covenant fleet?  I was thinking there that it meant if not another Infinity-class vessel, perhaps a lesser version.

I don't care about the cost-wise reason or version-wise reason: if 343 is going to make more Inifnity-class vessels, that'd be awful and unseemly. Just think about a bunch of over 5km long ships hanging around, or even worse, considering 343's attitude, a bunch of mini Infinity-class vessels...God why.

Every sci-fi universe has to have a symbol-ship. The Executor, the Battlestar Galactica, the Enterprise just to name a few. There must be only one of them in order to give it its importance.

Why would there ever be mini CCS-class vessels? Oh wait, there are already!

Then what's the point of this thread? What's the point of any thread? It matters because I don't like it. I hate it. It's just the product of 343i's laziness, just like the FUD that magically changes its aspect, and by pure chance, it is the same model of the Strident class!

At least they gave us some info with the Essential Visual Guide. But nobody, not you, not Unikraken or Canadaman, not O'Connor himself will make me like them.

And I HAVE TO build them. Sure, I can't control it, and I'm fine with that.

You got good arguments, and dont get me wrong, this stuff bugs me a little bit too. But just accept it, cause if 343 changes them again in halo 5, well how mad would you be then. And you really dont have to build them, cause of: *insert CCS picture here*

I'm hoping there will be ships based on the Infinity, they don't have to be as massive, but just to modernize the UNSC fleet even more, you never know what's out there...

Oh, I'm already pleased by the info they put in the Guide. I'll get over it...with anger, but I will eventually.

Well, CRS are better than CAR, and there's a long way before the CCS. But hey, we're getting a little off topic here.
