I don't care about the cost-wise reason or version-wise reason: if 343 is going to make more Inifnity-class vessels, that'd be awful and unseemly. Just think about a bunch of over 5km long ships hanging around, or even worse, considering 343's attitude, a bunch of mini Infinity-class vessels...God why.

Every sci-fi universe has to have a symbol-ship. The Executor, the Battlestar Galactica, the Enterprise just to name a few. There must be only one of them in order to give it its importance.

Well...there are multiple Executor-class ships, Battlestars, and Galaxy-class ships.  But I get your point.  Infinity should be unique.  She's kind of like the Destiny Ascension in Mass Effect.

INF101 is just its hull classification, 10 stands for experimental/prototype/special purpose 1 is variant 1.

Highly unlikely that experimental classifications get a second variant.

Also think about the immense cost of the infinity and the time it took to build it.

So if there is another Infinity class (crusier?), it should be INF-01 or INF-02? I think the UNSC would probably build another Infinity for the rebuilt Home fleet.

I know there is only one Infinity, which is why I said if there are more. Also:

INF-101 Infinity

INF-02 Forevermore

INF-03 Boundless

I just read about the Infinity more on halo.wikia and it states that the UNSC Infinity is the first ship of the Infinity-class warship and that the UNSC Infinity is just the first model, so I think we'll see more of them in the future and that they won't be limited to one

I think Infinity and its escorting battlegroup are both technically in the Home Fleet.

Oh. Well then another Infinity class vessel could be used to either continue Infinity's mission or keep Earth safe, while the Infinity is off dealing with various Galactic issues.

I doubt that the unsc will build more infinity class warships or ANY experimental ship since halo 5 is supposed to be "the darkest game in the reclaimer trilogy".

It dosent make sense to introduce ships of hope and symbolism. If anything regarding the infinity class ships happen, I think infinity is destroyed in halo 5.

The infinity was designed as a 'plan B' if earth ever fell, a sort of backup HQ for humanity. It took immense time and cost to make that one and with the covie war now over (more or less) odds are there won't be more.

Besides i kind of like the idea of the 'one of a kind kick ass' ship.

Giant 5km ship crashes into planet and just takes off again with no major structural damage. What is this science.

The kinetic force of the shields impacting the surface just doesn't disappear. Besides, you fight through the destroyed superstructure of the Infinity. Its just afterwards there is no reference of damage.

destroyed enough to lower a landing elevator just perfectly.

And if you crash a plane just right you can "skid crash" it practically no damage at all, just minor scratches.

True, but who says another Infinity wouldn't be cheaper (especially if it is no longer a prototype, but turned into a production ship class).  I also think the UNSC would want another one, since they were utterly defenseless against a single Forerunner ship (expect for the Infinity).

And plus at the end of Halo 4 you saw how tiny the Infinity looked to the Forerunner dreadnought and how little damage was done to it with the main laser ( or whatever they were) batteries, so logically if the forerunner tech is the new enemy they will have to come up with either a new ship or something to combat the new enemy?

I mean Mantle's Approach was the most heavily armed and fastest ship in the Forerunner fleet, its no real surprise humanity couldn't fight it that well.

Yeah but a plane is not a 5km long starship with significant mass. The whole underside was ripped off when it crashed, as the wreckage was scattered quite a ways. The Infinity also crashed into a mountain range, so it wasn't a smooth landing. That ship should have buckled and never had been able to lift off again, but the fact that it didn't even have a scratch on it is the most retarded thing ever.
