UNSC Screw Loose

UNSC Culture
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I never thought about what I'd name my titan before. Having thought about it now though I'd name mine the UNSC Otaku.

For those not familiar otaku is a Japanese word that English speakers have adopted and now use as slang to describe someone who enjoys watching anime, reading manga or playing Japanese RPGs. In Japanese it refers to someone with obsessive interests often to the point of being unhealthy, in Japan there is a very negative stereotype associated with being an otaku whilst in English it can differ on opinion, some take it as a point of pride and others take it as the literal translation in turn finding the word offensive.

While I'm on the topic I tend to name the worlds in my empire after Japanese cities and prefectures like Osaka, Akita, Nagoya and Matsuyama. As for capital ships I name them after Australian cities like Toowoomba, Wagga Wagga, Sydney and Brisbane, the heads of fleet or highest level ships are named after Australian states like Queensland or New South Wales.

I'll be fair and say.. I have no idea what git means...

1. A completely ignorant, childish person with no manners.
2. A person who feels justified in their callow behaviour.
3. A pubescent kid who thinks it's totally cool to act like a moron on the internet, only because no one can actually reach through the screen and punch their lights out.
That n00b is behaving like a bloody git.this example must have over 20 letters, hence this little add on."

Ahem. correction;

Shuttle enterprise takes its name from USS enterprise Ncc1701, which takes ites name from Uss enterprise NX01,  which takes its name from USS Enterprise (XCV 330), which takes its name from USS enterprise CVN-65, which takes its name from USS Enterprise (CV-6), which takes its name from a series of ships in the royal navy, which takes its name from, HMS enterprise, which was captured by the British from the french as L'Entreprise.

Enterprise has an extremely long lineage.

That name may as well be sacred only to be given to the best/powerful ship that humanity can build.

Especially after WW2 where it went and fought Japan as the only operation Aircraft Carrier for a time after the Battle of Santa Cruz hence the sign put up by the crew. "Enterprise vs Japan"

She literally had some form of plot armor or godlike protection, able to pull through against all odds.

Though you can expect no less from both the ship and crew of The Big E.

Yeah lucky for us she was around midway or some such place during the attack on Pearl. Had she been in Hawaii.... the war would have taken a lot longer.

Ship nomenclature, especially old ones is a bit odd: during the Napoleonic Wars, it was still generally customary when you took a ship prize to keep the name. Hence, in Trafalgar, the British had so many French-named ships. That's not so weird. What is weird is that because of the tradition, a new ship could be named after a ship that was built by the French, captured and subsequently scrapped.
What's even weirder, is that occasionally, if you thought a captured ship's name was 'unsuitable', the ship would often be renamed in situ, but with a different French name, not a British one!

This whole discussion is irrelevant as Titans only take Capital Ship names. Now just let this thread die in peace.
