First off, i love this mod. I think it is the best mod out for the game. but this mod is lacking something you only see in one other mod.

This is of course Debris models that suit the ships that was destroyed. This would help to add more immersion to the mod. so what do you think?

It is on the list of things to do, the ever growing and priority shifting list but it's there.

I wouldn't want persistent debris, that can become an intensive resource hog late game. Especially with kill/death ratios in SOTP it would be ridiculous.

True but for small scale tournament matches it would be quite the eye-candy.

Indeed, besides I'd bet Kig-Yar pirate fleets would be all over that within hours of the battle.

It can be done for all ships and there is a option to turn off ship debris as well.

I know, i did read previous posts... I was just trying to say that in STA it was just capitals, and i never had a problem with STA performance wise.

But surely only X% of ships should become hulks anyway.

It's not just capitals in STA3.

The Debris in STA3 lasts about 3 minutes. Persistent specific Debris can be a little intensive at times, so it might be an idea to go for modular "racial" debris.

Items that could be part of any ship in the UNSC fleet would add depth to it without hogging the system quite as much and would be a perfect compromise.

So, which would those be? If it's going to be put in at all, you might as well do it right. Just add the disabling option for it.

For example a section of ripped off hull plating that's clearly UNSC in origin, or an engine housing (as they're often similar in design). These pieces of debris would be one mesh and one texture across a range of ships and would reduce the need for Specific debris.
