Get your helium balloon's Its time for our next Voice Over Contest! 

 

THE RULES: Submit a single recording of the lines below (two takes per line) In WAV format to me via a PM. Additionally you may add 3 Ad-libed lines to your submission. All contestants that have submitted shall then be voted upon by the community after the submission period. First Place shall be the actor for the Covenant Spook Scout Ship! All submissions must be in by June 2, 10:00pm Mountain Standard Time. You can send the file to me via dropboxlink, or any uploading service. If you have a Mic but no program, check out Audacity. Its Free  Lastly have fun and be supportive of other contestants! 

 

The VO: The Voice Over is for the Covenant Scout Ship. The Spook has a grunt that has taken over the com channel, and will occasionally be interrupted by a pissed off Elite .

 

To be honest, I've struggled to find the right sound for a grunt that's close enough to the actual Halo 1 halo 2 comedic vibe, but is also not annoying as hell. Hence I leave it up to you guys to see if you can hash something out! (helium balloons perhaps?, editing is allowed if you want to pitch your voice higher, or I can do it for you) either way the entries should be entertaining to say the least

What do you guys use to edit your sound? I kind of want to try this, but without making myself look like an idiot without due cause. I think I sound half decent. My voice is fairly deep so when I raise it gets weird, so I want to play with it first.

As a serious question, would it be ok to record and edit with something cheesy like Audacity purely to take my voice up an octave or so?

I can try, I do know that if you do that you need to have a "raspy" or "grunty" voice to begin with, and then I can add pitch.

 

Audacity does have pitch programs, but I prefer Adobe Audition. you can get it for free at Adobe.com

I was meaning on my end, before I send them. I think cubase has a feature where I can increase the pitch without changing the speed. If it sounds crap you can always discard it straight off but I may save you the trouble if I don't think it's going to work.

I'd use a balloon but I'd rather not have my last action on this planet be one of my lungs rupturing while attempting to make a voice for a video game.

 

Don't see much merit in that.

I could maybe do this with my voice since I use to make lots of jokes using a high pitch voice.  Just depends if want to feel like im breathing fire everytime I breathe

Should defo give it a go, could always try it out on a friend/family member to get an idea of how it sounds.

I think even a light tap to a WW2 vet that was part f the sciliy friendly fire incident, first to hit the beaches at normandy, part of market grden, and a defender at bastonge would sqeak like a grunt
