the events of requiem are a perfect example. If the infinity didn't have its air power or army the ship would have likely never left requiem. Explorations are dangerous and unpredictable.

Don't forget about Aliens guys Big Scary Aliens, Not to mention that they are after What Infinity set out to find, and more.

Oh and what the artifacts that they are looking for just so happen to belong to The Forerunner WHO HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO HAVE ANTISUNOFABITCHMACHINES AND HOLYSHITTHATSTOUGHIUM ARMOR!

Plus they have Hula-Hoops... Deadly Hula-hoops..

I mean, it isn't difficult to think the Infinity actually can house 300,000 personnel, is it? It was designed as a small city, as the last bastion of humanity. I'm not saying it does hold that many at any one time but I think it would be capable of it.

I circa anywhere from 20-80,000 total.

Crisis the UNSC air force and army do have orbit capable transport in the form of pelicans and longswords.

300,000 is a ludicrous amount, the pluming for the toilets would be half the ship alone.

I'd imagine overload to be 150-200k.

Ah we forgot to take into account cryotubes. that may be possible, but it would still be a logistical nightmare, You would be unfreezing the soldiers and they would have to die instantly because think about how much logistics would be involved in keeping that many people fed and watered.

well this is 500 years in the future. I imagine just like the astronauts on the ISS the UNSC has the tools to make piss drinkable without gagging. Food on the other hand is a problem.

When I die, please bury me deep! Place an MA5 down by my feet! Don't cry for me, don't shed no tear! Just pack my box with PT gear! 'Cuz one early morning 'bout zero five! The ground will rumble, there'll be lightning in the sky! Don't you worry, don't come undone! It's just my ghost on a PT run!”

Right. I still have a hard time believing Longswords and Pelicans can reach escape velocity but this is Halo...

They both can pelicans were used in the battle of dreathius and the longswords on dust and echoes.

So Stridents are about 450m long, right? And they're docked vertically. Which means that the Infinity must have an enormous hangar (plus all the hangars with Mammoths and vehicles).

Thus, I suppose that in times of need, it could just fill those hangars with soldiers/civilians (by getting disposed of all the vehicles). And this would raise the max crew capacity of Infinity of, at least, 10k (maybe?).

Then again with 5km of warship you can likely store a lot of rations.

Still, Sabres need rockets to even reach escape velocity, I don't understand how Pelicans or Longswords reach it.
