In a screenshot posted by SternuS at the following page (1st post 2nd to last screenshot) we see a fleet of Eions controlled by the enemy ai. Where did the Athens go? Are the Athens and the Eion going to be 2 seperate entities, or are you retiring the Athens in the next update?

Very observant. Athens is joining the Insurrection. She's a very old ship and we have too many carriers. I'm not super happy about it, but balance is far more important than fluff in something like SotP.

The saying goes, too many carriers will spoil the mod! But honey I think that's not true!

Anyway, yeah, we swapped a couple times Athens and Eion to see which fitted better. Athens got scrapped.

So are the stats of the Athens going to swap with the stats of the Eion? Or is the Athens going to stay the same and the Eion going to be restated all together? And will the Eion be able to send out 3 squads of fighter/bombers or will the number be reduced?

Quite everything, from the CAS to the trade ship are continuously being refined and stats keep changing. Especially, it's unusual to just swap stats or copy/paste them, so worry not, everything will be balanced.

is it also because the Eion is more of a canon ship? i mean like the Athens, but i've always wondered what was different between the two....
but the Eion is the Canon carrier unless i'm mistaken so was that a factor?

“Listen to me, Covenant. I am Vice Admiral  Preston J. Cole commanding the human flagship, Everest You claim to be the holy and glorious inheritors of the universe? I spit on your so-called holiness. You dare judge us unfit? After I have personally sent more than three hundred of your vainglorious ships to hell? After kicking your collective butts off Harvest - not once - but twice? From where I sit, we are the worthy inheritors. You think otherwise, you can come and try to prove me wrong. Is that the best you can do? Watch what one unworthy human can do!”

They are both as canon as each other, hell they even appeared in the same comic series (the Fall of Reach comics I believe). In terms of size, the Athens was probably the largest UNSC warship at it's time - it was easily 3km long. In comparison, the Eion (or Musashi as it was called in the comics) was only slightly longer than a 1km cruiser. So it has a much larger capacity for longswords and ground units.

I think the main reason why the Eion is the buildable carrier is simply because its newer - I think its mentioned somewhere that the Athens was considered obsolete before the HCW, while the Eion was shown to be operating during the Fall of Reach (also the Eion has an original design - I think 2 ships with a similar design is quite enough).
