I finished reading halo evolutions and I'm still dumb struck by how damn brilliant this tactical beast was. I'm even more dumb struck that there is a chance this guy is ALIVE after facing a fleet of covies on his own!

That also makes me think of theories that revolves around the future of the lore. Is the cheif going to eventually encounter Cole if he is alive? Will he still be on the side of the UNSC or would he be with his wife on the rebel's side?

So much to think of this... I feel like a little kid getting excited about opening a gift!

What I find to be most likely is that Cole and the Innie fleet left UNSC controlled space in an attempt to outrun the Covenant and find a new place to call home. It's likely Cole came to the same conclusion ONI did about eventually losing the war if nothing huge happens, so he decided to try to start some colonies away from the war. I also find it likely he's dead by now.

I feel like they may not miss a chance to drag him back into things if there's any chance that he's still alive. They're all about fan-service in that regards.

If that were the case I think we'd see SoF before we see anything else.

Well they made a game about the SoF, so it's more likely than just having Cole pop up. At the time of Evolutions, though, wasn't he like 60 or something? In any case, I like Unikraken's BSG reference. They should make a game where they're chased by Cylons Covenant forces and then finally defeat them and find their new home.

On second thought, the Everest is "lost" the same year our mod is set in, that's not far enough away from the current time to conclude he's probably dead. He's probably alive.

I think it would be awesome if 343i have him pop up somewhere be it in a book or game.

Cue epic space battle when the Everest with a fully repaired SoF jump in and save the UNSC and Rebel Elite forces. SoF had found the planet Everest had colonized and with gathered resources and the Tech available, manufactured a slipspace drive.

During his military career the Admiral must have made hundreds of slipspace jumps while in cryo sleep. During that time he was frozen, effectively stopping his normal aging process. Chronologically he might be in his 70's or 80's but I'd probably put his actual biological age somewhere around 60. Furthermore, the Halo universe is 500 years more advanced then our own, so it stands to reason that the life expectancy of an average human is much longer due to flash cloning of organs, etc.

He'll be referenced, at the least.

Oh, for sure, it'd be great fan service. I could definitely see some twist in the second half of Halo 5 where you happen upon Cole and the rebels.
