Keep putting in your thoughts on the covenant here, no matter how strange the ideas might be. We can always use them to help get the covenant released.

This is a general idea for both factions but I was wondering if attacks could shave away armor points with repairs bringing them back.
I know you can do this with abilities, but i dont know if regular attacks can do that. Another thing to check out and see if hardcoding stops us

I'm pretty sure there is actually vanilla research for that but I am not sure about the second part of my idea.

Yeah, which is why we would have to check hardcoding for that. I dont know if its possible, but i like the idea.

Your saying that you want a weapon to cripple armor right? Maybe I'm just not processing everything in my head well these days.
This might be possible....
MACs, Torps, and projectors should all do it,

Ingame terms, he wants basic gun fire like MACs to have a passive to decrease the current armor of the target.Your saying that you want a weapon to cripple armor right? Maybe I'm just not processing everything in my head well these days.

yep, those covenant corvettes from reach were frigate class ships, and there are other examples too
Wouldn't they just be classified as corvettes? Nonfictional navies make the distinction.

Covenant frigates are mentioned in Ghosts of Onyx and Glasslands and the map Penance is located on a Covenant frigate.

Weaponry has nothing to do with ship classification. It was probably labeled a Corvette because it's unshielded and the majority of it's interior is used for planetary invasion.ok, ive always considered the "covenant corvette" as a frigate because of its weaponry, but thats just me. But my point still stands, the covenant did use frigates.

buffs are inflictable via shots - it's an ability that would have to be active on the ship that's firing though...
Gonna jump in here and say I really don't like this. Dicking around with this stuff too much will break the gameplay. There are all sorts of holes in any simplified game. A ship with 1% of it's hull would not be able to recover, nor fight back, so on and so forth. If you over analyze a relatively simple game then you're going to find big faults with it. I don't think this kind of mechanic change would improve fun. Maybe when a more complex and better game comes out, like Star Citizen, we might be able to do more, but deviating from SoaSE mechanics too far will make it not fun, among other things.
