After playing a bunch of long-term games, usually 4v4 or 3v3, I noticed that, at least in the Entrenchment version, Mine Fields are spammed everywhere, resulting in a boring Frigate/Prowler/low-cost ship spam until every field is gone.
Bare in mind I only played with AI players, thanks to the wonderful GameStop App. But that's another story.
I know that's basically the only valid solution against Flood, but, as noticed by some Modders, the Flood is still WIP and turning it on now is not a good idea.
So, my suggestion is, obviously keep it, but modify it to make it less OP by:
- Increasing its cost;
- Increasing the "slot" cost;
- Reducing the amount of mines it fields to 1-2 (this being my favourite option);
- Reducing their range;
- Reducing their damage;
Look at these as "or" options.
Speaking of mines, what about putting the ability to drop a mine to a Capital ship or Cruiser, instead of, let's say, the Shiva? It would add some diversity between the ships. But this is just a secondary thread, I'd like to talk about the mine fields. (This idea has come to my mind after watching this (minute 3:50))
There was already an old topic about this, but that was more focused on keeping or not the mines. I want to keep them, but I'd like to modify them a little. Also I don't know how mine fields work in Rebellion, thus I'm sorry if this is obsolete.
