I prefer plasma....
Oh, and trains!
So a ship that shoots trains at incredible velocities? seems legit.

A Laser would be pretty cool thought there would be some pretty big technical details. A simple up-scale wouldn't suffice, the bigger the laser the bigger the power needed to get that thing going. It would be a case of economics, 'does this single laser blast do more damage than a MAC round?'

Behold the massive firepower!
It takes a dwarf to use magma for snow shoveling
Only in Dwarf Fortress would you try to catch a mermaid to butcher her and make trophies out of her bones

@killa it should be really costly, more than a titan.
And in terms of damage, negates shields.
@insaen i now now where you get your name from.

The SpLaser ship would fit better into the post-war era when the UNSC finally cracked the problem of large scale implementation of shield tech. Shields require a lot of power to run, perhaps the SpLaser ship could repurpose the shield generator for the laser instead. This would create a super strong glass cannon, and the lack of shields would simply pe explained away by saying the generator can't power the shields and a laser at once -we're good, but not that good yet- kind of argument.

This is for rebellion after all, which is halo 3-4 era or later, so i don't see the generator being a problem, but i dont think the devs would be able to have the shots drain shields, or take them offline for the time being, plus how is that practical? if the ONI special research is shields. why on earth would there special ship not be able to use the shields properly?

spartan lasers are widespread (as on, not ONI specific), so i would imagine that a ship that is basically a space based spartan laser would not be restricted to ONI like shields would be

Were talking ship to ship weapons here, its not everyday you see a soldier wielding a 4.5 inch naval gun over his shoulder on the battlefield.

while this is true, spartan lasers are not restricted to ONI personel

But whats to say the more powerful version isnt? ONI does prototypes, (hence the first infinity class battleship was made by ONI) so this is just a prototype, and think about it, in halo wars two vehicles use the laser, gremlin and hawk, this could be the first attempt at space based, splaser warfare. While yes, the regular version is not restricted, I have not seen anyone but a ODST (that was doing a ONI mission mind you) and Spartans use it. So this is really quite a plausible idea.

Also considering the Splaser was the most expansive personal weapon ever issued, i doubt the UNSc would spend a stupid amount of money on a giant version. ONI on the other hand has tiny ships which cost more than a dupercarriers.

Just gonna crush everyone's ideas here - we're not gonna give the ONI faction shields, infinity, and the UNSC RAPELAZARS. If this ship happens, it will most likely be under MIC in some form
We've been told there won't be an ONI faction.
