How do you guys seem to combat all those danm spore pods?
The flood.

I don't. I don't play with the Flood. We'll work on the Flood after we finish up UNSC vs Covenant. Until then it's very WIP, missing several models, including a gravemind cap.
Right now if you turn on pirates it's because you're a masochist.

That's an understatement. I have never beaten them in a fleet battle unless I outnumbered them 3 to 1 with almost 50 makos included in the fleet. Not very economical.

Try attacking there planet. Really rewarding if it is successful and a chokepoint however. That's an understatement. I have never beaten them in a fleet battle unless I outnumbered them 3 to 1 with almost 50 makos included in the fleet. Not very economical.

If you really wanted to chokepoint a star.
You may as well leave the flood there since nobody in their right mind would try and go through it especially if they're bringing a bunch of powerful ships along.
The flood is already the best chokepointer.
If you really wanted to secure it you may as well feed the flood more ships so they're even more powerful. Try getting through after someone feeds the flood like a 100 Destroyers or something.

Not necessarily. The flood is actually relatively easy to destroy late game, with all the range and damage researched you can out range the SMACs so you just have to deal with the ships. Create firing lines and as the flood ships approach just take them out line by line. Then you build your upgrade SMACs and annihilate all attackers

I turn on flood for a challenge when im playing for fun, as im able to take them on if im prepared, but the flood are very disruptive for testing IMO

Nukes seem to work pretty well against them.
This. Nukes to deal with the spores and then mop up the transporters or whatever they are with petty much anything. Expect to lose a capital ship in the process though, the time delay between nuke launch and nuke boom is normally enough for them to take it out. I tend to use Valiants, cheapish to replace compared to the others.
Regarding the flood worlds, I haven't had the bottle to try one yet. 180+ flood spores is a little daunting when they're not all clumped together.

Go all imperialist on the asses and form firing lines with overlapping fields of fire (like 'em red coats of ol') in a way that not every ship is in range at the same time. That way it minimizes multiple ships firing on the same spores. That will hold them back for a time, time enough to load nukes.
Should only attempt with full range and damage upgrades for MACs.

Simple. Nuke them. Or you build all your structures as close to he planet as possible then have your s-macs all around the planet as close as you can which would allow for you buy as much time as possible to snipe them, or you could build hangars and hope to god they take out enough ships before succumbing to the flood.

Horrible idea, not cost efficient in the slightest. You might as well spend credits on fighting your enemy rather than the flood at this point.

Trying to fight the Flood with frigate spam is madness.
Instead, make sure you have ships capable of AoE damage effects and surround them with a tanking fleet to keep the flood off for a few seconds. Keeping a fleet small and easily under control is paramount to success in most UNSC/Flood engagements.

"Age of Empires" damage effects? No seriously, what does AoE stands for?
