I have found that ships in sins have the problem of firing hundreds of weapons at the same ship. I recently watched the video on your Moddb page and noticed that a lot of the macs fired at a single ship.

I was wandering if you could change that and have 1-3 macs targeting a ship depending on the firepower of the mac and the targets in question or is this not possible.

I think MACS are more designed to go straight, so for the ship to hit target multiple targets, It would have to turn the entire ship to aim the MAC at that target, which maybe in that time, they would have been blown to pieces

I think he's talking about multiple ships and how like 10 frigates will all aim for one enemy ship.

It seems like when someone creates a new fool-proof solution, someone gives birth to a better fool.

The closest we can come to fixing this is changing the willFocusFire tag in the entity to false... IIRC we did that, and I think it does help a little (all the ships don't target the same one by default)

I guess this mod will incorporate a lot of pauses for fleet micromanagement in engagements

This would be quite useful and very much needed

Well to be fair, you would probably want to focus fire as the UNSC against the Covenant and eventually, the Forerunner ships. Seeing as how the UNSC would need all the help they could get, this could theoretically work in their advantage if a Covenant fleet were to waste their opening salvo on a random frigate or two, assuming all ships in the mod have the FocusFire tag on. Besides, it would probably help in a situation of equal forces anyway if you can have your fleet destroy one enemy ship at a time, thus reducing the overall damage done to your fleet rather than basically having multiple one on one shootouts.

I didn't read anything in here beyond the first post. UNSC ships do not focus fire. What you saw was either me or Canada specifically ordering ships to fire on one target, or one of us simply outnumbered the other enough that more than one ship got it. You also need to understand that they fire on the first thing to come into range, and that's not changeable. So if only 5 ships get in range then 40 ships will gang rape them until the others move up.

which is a better tactic, letting ships pick their targets or focusing fire?

Depends. Do you REALLY want to kill that supercarrier, or do you worry more about the 200 Charon class frigates accompanying it?

Like Sloose says, it depends on what you're meeting. Typically I just nuke the biggest thing and let my ships decide everything else.

And still no I would rather just sit there and watch the pretty ship get blown to bits with the fleet I built instead of doing tireless micromanaging and no enjoy it

That and my computer has a stay on period of about 30 minutes after which it likes to cut out (the CPU is old and needs replaced)

If you are smart with it you can use the epic gang rape of the Mac round salvo to your advantage. A bit of tactics and a few brave men and women aboard a couple of frigates to take one for the team can help inflict some serious damage into an enemy fleet. Or you can just use musket tactics and just go hell for leather in a head on and see who has the strongest fleet.
