So Stark is banned? O.o
Agig Don't make anyone change you rank to "Minor Junior Private Negative First Class", your name to Gigadork and get them locked.
I won't, I will have a 1 rank bomb per month quota.

SMACs...
My point was that the games have been exaggerated by Bungie for theatrical effect. Only in the later games such as Reach and more specifically Halo 4 has Halo in general been more connected to the EU. Bungie themselves has been known for retconning and changing their own universe between the OT. What you see in game =/= what is read in the books majority of the time.

I might be a bit late, but, regarding the CAS strength, the Ascendant Justice was a CAS-class, and it's stated that the shielding can take about four plasma torpedoes, I have no idea what kind of strength one on a shield has, but I'd think a SMAC is stronger
It could be, of course, that the shielding in Halo 2 is better, but I doubt by much

It is called a Super Carrier but it is definitely not 27 km long. It is the same length as a CAS Assault Carrier.... 5.3 km

Ahh the SMAC thing i have come up with a solution.
When chief delivered returned the bomb to the cov ship did you care to notice how large the reactor room was. Plenty of empty space.
That's not including the hangers, which are large enough to carry two UNSC frigates, and a metric butt tone of fighters.
My point being you could hit the ship, bring down its shields, pierce its hull and it run straight through and hit nothing significant.
Similar to HV (high velocity) ammo on rifles. Sometimes LV (low velocity rounds) are more deadly, because they "scew" and will have random trajectories inside the body.

I misread the post but regardless some people have called it a Super Carrier.
a plot device with a complement of 100 elites and A LOT of engineers...
...now think about halo 2,
2 assault carriers and 15 ccs. Against a small portion of home-fleet defending africa, and 3 odp's,its more
than likely the cruisers deployed the boarding craft and rushed the fleet. taking out 2 out of 3 platforms as well as a ton of frigates and cruisers. what was left after dealing with the cruisers tried to destroy regrets carrier but it simply ignored them and ran to earth. leaving what was left to engage the second carrier, which chief destroyed.
im saying that a battleship wouldnt have stood back half the battle, it would have joined the cruisers. why else would the carriers simply watch for 2/3 of the battle?
Battleships are meant to clear fleets and defenses while carriers coordinate and, once deemed reasonably safe move in. The carriers had no way of knowing that the chief would be on one of the targeted stations to return their bomb, they thought it would soon be destroyed, thus they entered the "kill zone".

Idummo, I prefer to use http://www.halopedia...cendant_Justice
Anyway, on that one it says 3000 meters, citing a source within the book. I sadly don't have the books with me to check that.

I've checked both. It makes more sense for a name screw up rather than a whole new ship.

Perhaps the covenant designation is a supercarrier.

Perhaps the covenant designation is a supercarrier.
Perhaps. But then what do they call the other one? The super-uber-heavy-awesomecarrier?
More likely they wouldn't even use a designation like that...

Perhaps the covenant designation is a supercarrier.
Or it's something they call a major flagship?
Where did the Ascendant Justice being called a super carrier come from anyway?

This has been addressed in canon. I'd answer but I don't want to get banned for addressing a point made by the mod staff again. That being said though, the Justice's size and class has been up for debate for some time now.

Not exactly.
"First Echelon, you're with me, blanket those cruisers, take ‘em out one by one. Second Echelon, keep those carriers busy."
This seems to me that the 2 Carriers were a WAY bigger threat than the first. Where as the cruisers could be taken down the carriers couldn't.
Fleet Admiral Harper (COM): "The carriers are breaking through, Sir! They're heading straight for the Cairo!"
Lord Hood (COM): "Cortana! Concentrate your fire on the first carrier. Admiral, do what you can against the second."
The Carriers were the ones who charged ahead. The cruisers if anything would want to hang back as a single SMAC round would end it.
