I just took it in the anus in a HUGE way just 30 minutes ago. And from now on I'm disabling flood in all of my games. I was building my itty bitty fleet of about 40 ships which is where I got it when the flood attacked me. And minimal defenses. I wasn't paying attention to the flood alert, I dismissed it because pirate attecks were usually easy to handle. Well, HUGE fucking mistake right there. As soon as I knew those guys were coming for me I should've started mass production of EVERYTHING.
Okay I missed the foundation of this tragedy. I saw this mod and I wanted to do a casual playthrough to test the ships, structures, etc. and see how they looked. They were beautiful by the way. I set a covenant enemy to easy and played on a huge map. I wanted a system to myself so I could get a look at everything. I was expecting an easy game, so imagine my surprise.
I explored my entire system and found the flood base, and it had 10 guardian ships (or whatever they were called I cant remember.) I started gathering my fleet and I got about 40 ships. I didnt know how tough those flood ships were and I never found out. As soon as I got my fleet to the star, a flood incursion started heading towards me. I thought, "Well thats okay, I'll just hold them here at the star." Which is when I found out the flood doesn't give a shit about anything. They just sorta floated by my ships while I picked them off, but they kept coming, and started getting past me. I pulled my fleet back because I only had a couple of orbital mac cannons along a chokepoint of about 2 planets.
As soon as my fleet started forming to warp, about 50 just warped in at once, so I thought," Well this is trouble." So I pulled my ships back to my choke point which was several jumps away. Around the same time my ships got back, the flood reached my mining facilities around an asteroid. And their fleet filled the entire bar. I was feeling very nervous here. I started production of more ships to support my fleet, but in the end there simply wasnt enough.
The flood swarmed me from every conceivable direction. The entrance to the chokepoint was three planets wide, and they came from all of them, each one of them containing a large amount of ships. By the way did I mention they capture planets? Yeah. They do. I had a forward research station at one of them and once it was capped the only thing I could make was Paris ships. Which aren't too shabby actually. Anyway, I massed produced paris ships like there was no tomorrow, which in my case there really wasn't. I kept producing and kept producing until I ran out of resources, when that happened, I just sat back in dismay as the flood poured past my defenses, converted my ships, and screwed me royally. I even loaded saves 3 times to try to get the advantage, to no avail.
In the end I quit early, but before then 500 or so flood ships were destroyed with comparatively minimal losses. When I looked at the stats I realised that my enemy was even worse off than I was, not suprisingly. With 1 planet left and no ships, they were on the breaking point.
TL;DR
1. Flood converts ships and structures
2. They didn't give a flying fuck about any ship losses
3. They zerged with hundreds of ships
4. They NEVER stopped coming
5. Paris models are the bomb
What the Hell was that

Well, if they are, then a little warning would've been nice lol. And I had no idea they were supposed to be super uber duper tough, so put a BIG note somewhere that is a warning against the flood so noone spams the forums with flood complaints

Thanks man, also is this multiplayer supported? It would be great to play some matches against the great and all powerful flood with someone else.

You should get a good game out of plenty of community members, just be careful. Some make the flood look like pansies. I'm told.

Okay. Is there any way to reduce the lag that I get from all the freaking flood?

A) kill the flood faster.
B ) give up and die sooner.
In all seriousness though no, there isn't much you can do about it, sadly.

What is the best ship to fight against them? Besides the mako to destroy pods, if I were to create a fleet that was 60% mako and 40% other ship type, what would be the best ship for that role
