Let me clarify: I'm not happy about the 6 month gap in releases we have right now. There are circumstances which created this gap that were inevitable and unfortunate, and I'll go over some of them now.

  • Internally the code of SotP is a huge fucking mess. It was worse six months ago and in order to speed up future development and ensure it was maintainable, we had to refactor the code and edit a lot of stuff, mostly file names that are referenced all over the place, so it takes time to do that right.
  • Additionally, we had some very unfortunate internal drama that had been brewing for about 6 months. Everyone kept it together to meet our goal of a New Years release, but once that was done everyone gave up the fucks they were giving and infighting broke out. Several members quit the team or were let go due to the issues surrounding it, nearly everyone else wanted time away from the project to destress because a fan made project for fun shouldn't be this damn stressful, but this is what happens when you have a large number of people who are talented enough to have egos working together.
  • Finally, the last minor issue was that because our artists are so talented they have real world obligations relating to those talents, so they pretty well dropped off the map for a time, some are still very hard to get hold of. HHF also seemed to take a very long break as well (some members are apparently still on break), and I'm not really keen on releasing another update until we have at least one single Covenant asset to show for the long break (which is nearly done now).

The next release is coming very soon, as long as our artists are able to pull their own weight. I hope that we don't have these extreme release gaps in the future, and I do intend on releases being about once every month or two, depending on what's transpired during that time. Every member of the team can attest to how hard I've been pushing for a new release since I came back from my own break, every single guy. I have a set of things I want to be complete before we pack this thing up for the next round of "how do I install this? no I didn't read the readme, why?" We're very close to that, but not close as in days, close as in a week or two.

I appreciate the update mate.  I know you and I have had some bad moments, but I have much respect for you and this team.

How do you make the CAS immune to disabling effects?

Blarg honk wort

To clear that up as well, I like most of the people here on the forums, including you. What I have to do as an admin and moderator (and mod manager) is often not what I'd do as a normal user or friend. Sometimes I have to defuse situations in harsh manners or let people go I'd rather not. It's part of leadership, having to weigh these things.

And to be honest I hate having to mention the internal drama, because while I say internal, some of it was quite public so it's well known, but I mention it because recently we've been hounded for the next update because I've been more willing recently to say things like "it'll be in the beginning of X month" or "it's a week away from now" which has bit me on the ass because of how immature fans are reacting to delays. Imagine having a silly name, which has a very common pop culture joke relating to it. You'd hear that joke a lot. Even when people are joking about asking for the next release date, it's a joke we've seen a hundred times in the last 3 months. It's an old joke. And then there are the serious people who say shitty passive aggressive things about missed release goals. This thing is fucking free to you fans. People put work into this that they'd traditionally be paid for in a commercial project and people seem very ungrateful when they hound for release dates. We understand the hounding is because of how well we've made the mod and how popular the mod is, but negative attention is never fun, especially for the specific people who handle the public, like myself. (This rant isn't directed at you, Stark, but at the public at large.)

You should recruit a PR team for the mod.  Just say everything like a politician.  But yeah I won't even dare complain about the release dates.  Shit happens, life happens, take as long as you need.

Here Here.

@ uni

<---knee---<

On a serious note it is appreciated what you guys do, i think given half a chance there are a few people here that would happily reach though our PCs and bitchslap people that cry when a deadline is missed.

I have said a couple of times that it's pretty fucked up that people can be so self-intitled when it comes to this stuff even though you guys don't get paid for it. Beggers can't be choosers, the majority of us appreciate the fact we are getting -for free- something that could easily be charged for by professional companies.

Wonder how many of those that complain when deadlines get missed are either under 14 or have an IQ the same number as their age.

I'm not sure to laugh, be annoyed by stereotyping, or be indifferent as I know it's kind of true.

If i was 14 i would probably have complained aswell.

It's been less than a year. We've been super transparent about why delays have happened. Go read our ModDB news posts. You irk me quite a bit.

They have the mod based on rebellion they would have to rework alot of things to make it for entrenchment, theres a couple sites that you can get the game for 10 bucks on. It's honestly worth it.

Actually they already had an Entrenchment version of the mod, but it does seem silly to go backwards for the few people who haven't gotten Rebellion yet.

I've said in the past and I'll reiterate here, if there is a group of people out there who have Trinity/Entrenchment and can do the codework, I'm willing to hand them what they need to backport the mod themselves, but I just don't have the manpower to ever backport it ourselves. Folks have to step up, but I would recommend they rather just get a job and buy a PC capable of playing Rebellion, because the experience is much better.
