Fair enough. Let's not start the hype train too early.

The hype train was about to leave with half its engine missing.

DEVS! YOU ARE DOING AN AMAZING JOB KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!! hehe

I think owning a Halo should give some sort of bonus, as access to that fancy tech helped out the UNSC a fuckload in the war....

I don't know how that bonus would pan out though.

Idk, perhaps it could be like a new victory condition? Try to prevent faction A from firing the Halo? If its fired the game is over. Everyone dies, but since you were faction B you lose objective wise? You could play either faction, but I think you would need to maybe make a map just for this type.
Or heck, if you fire the halo in any scenario its just game over for everybody but make it cost a lot or have really high research etc. I'm fine with an everyone loses button.

I think the devs should use them like the "superweapons" in vanilla sins(Novalith Cannonish). Inter-Stellar artillery, shoots a big ass bolt of energy at an enemy something, causes a fair bit of damage, recharges, shoots again at a random or specified target.

No idea if this is possible.

I JUST thought of this so yeah.

No superweapons in the mod. Also planets can't be used as an SW.

Just because it's called a superweapon doesn't really make it a superweapon. Novalith Cannon and co really only harassed and annoyed.

This sounds extremely similar to a combination of research and occupational victory in the basegame, but except that there's no 'Boom, everyone dies' button.

Novalith Cannon was the easiest way to win the game.

Novalith Cannon was the easiest way to win the game.

Which is why we don't want and will not have superweapons in the mod. You will win through strategy and tactics or you will enjoy a prolonged stalemate until you're smart enough to win. And honestly, who the hell doesn't love the feeling of finally breaking a stalemate?!

a hilarious thing the devs could do to troll for teh lulz AND be completely canonical/realistic at the same time would be to have a huge chance (like 85+%) to have a flood outbreak if a halo installation gets explored. heh, explore once and the population goes from 50 to 1000, becomes flood controlled (no ships though), and you then need to spend forever and a half just to bombard/glass the population to 0 to reclaim the halo. now THAT'S something i wanna see!

hell, it could actually balance itself out provided there's no quick workaround. all buildings become inert, opponents would need to do the same things and really, unless someone devotes the time and money to build a bombardment fleet, that gravity well is effectively rendered dead space, no more than a bump in the road.

I am a fan of halo. as such, i have a tendancy to aim fans at halos.

brought up before, just one issue with that. have you seen the dev's favorite image yet? I'll see if I can find it.

edit: took more than 2 minutes, got bored. I'm sure Uni will come along and post it.

How about using a Halo as an occupation planet? You can make another Halo planet type special for Occupation victory games. You'd have to control a Halo and wait for it to "charge" to "annihilate" everybody and "win."  You could rename Occupation Victory as King of the Hill! Or even Juggernaut!

SotP is a competitive mod. Superweapons are not in line with that.

Then whats the point of having the Halo installations in the mod hell when i go to explore the Halo rings i find nothing every time is it a bug or part of the game
