I never let a game get that far along. I play quick and competitively.

This. You guys aren't going doing the small chokepoint-based competitive maps road, then? That's the way SotP was designed to be played.

No, the Halo maps included are no fun to play.

And besides, I like bigger maps.

is it me or are the ships weak

i sent a force of an orion, 40 cruisers , 70 charons

the enemy had a smaller force, but i lost with only 2 ships to spare

is there something that im doing wrong or is it a bug

regards

If you read the faq on the Moddb page you would know that it was suppose to be a very fast pace mod where whole fleets get lost in a matter of moments to much smaller forces due to better (or in that case) worse management over individual ships.

about 500 ships

minimum

500 ships if its really a late game, but if its just an early to mid game you can get away with as few as 30 to as many as 100 ships if you brings nukes and what not but a smac wall will require a larger fleet. The trick is realizing that having the better kind of ships doesn't mean you will win. With the UNSC (IMO) its more to do with numbers (both ships and strikecraft) and nukes than the quality of the ship.

variety of the fleet > quality of the ships

Granted however most fleets (at least as far as i have seen) have always fielded a large compliment of frigates with them (by large i mean they make up the bulk of the fleet) either to absorb damage or act as extra guns or both

Frigates make up the largest component of any decent fleet. Then provide a lot of support to your main battle line of cruisers and capitals

Depends on the number of capitals (and of what type).

Depends on what im facing. For the most part, i go with 50 marathons, 75 thanatoses, 100 parises, 50 makos, and either 5 or 10 cradles. I adjust these numbers depending on what my opponent is making, or i change my entire fleet composition to something that can handle the situation better

It is one that is set in stone will lose, just because your opponent will adapt.

Lol - just read ender's game so I'm totally thinking strategically atm...

You guys sound like you're quoting the book there...

Great book, btw...

Oh, and that's completely accurate. Your fleets must adapt. Counter his strengths and exploit his weaknesses. Hit him where he isn't expecting in ways he isn't expecting... Ok back to reading...
