I guess they couldnt call it a stealth bomber because the name was taken, but that is what it was meant to do, dogfights were a no go for the F-117

Technically its not a fighter plane, its more of a bomber (not as much as the B-2 stealth bomber), and is not as suited to dogfighting as other fighter jets.
Now, nitpicking aside, that thing does not have perfect stealth, it still shows up on radar, except its a very small blip so it looks like a bird or something instead of its real size. Also, the material it is coated in provides most of its stealth capabilities as it absorbs RADAR waves.

Stealth is not a military term... Low Observability is the actual one. The F-117A got its "F" designation as a security measure. "F" is for fighter "A" attack. If you haven't guess it got this designation to fool the evil Commies as it was designed to attack Air Defense Command Posts.

Sorry to correct you but no UNSC prowlers make an appearance in Legends, they've only appeared in the animated version of Halo Evolutions- The Mona Lisa and the UNSC Aladdin in Halo 4 Spartan Ops.Yea it is one of the things that I don't like. It is because of that God Damn Halo Legends that we are stuck with that BS of a ship. I mean in Halo canon, SotP did a great job making a ship that looks like it can actually 'stealth'.

Yes their are probably many classifications of stealth ships with a similar design possibly even the destroyer sized UNSC Point of no Return, also wasnt the longswords built with steath in mind, in the begining I'd always thought that prowlers would be a progression of that design. But the ship looks very similar.

Capital prowler? with all the electronic warfare abilities.I think our Prowler model nails what I've always conceptualized in my head when I've read about them. That being said, I'd like to work the "canon prowler" design in somehow.

I could never see the canon prowler as stealthy. At best i could see it used as a electronic warfare vessel or purely as a recon vessel, not behind enemy lines doing recon.
EDIT: Did not mean to change the topic to the F-117. I call it a Stealth Fighter from playing C&C: Generals.
Real life prowlers do both.
Corvettes do ECM and fleet wide security.
