So it is possible to have two stations to a gravity well? As in it is confirmed? Because that is great.
So the Gamma is going to be named after the one featured in the book but that is where the similarities are going to end. The SotP and canon one will be loosely associated (they are military and used in a defensive way) but we are going to take liberities in the defenses the station actually has (Onagers, Anti Aircraft, Archers, etc.).
Is that generally how the SotP Gamma is going to be done?

Pretty much. And yeah, you can have as many as you want in the grav well... You can even change in-game via research (ref: e4x/vanilla(?) Twin Fortresses research)

considering what game you got the Anchor station from you could possible add research on later to link a Nemesis class SMAC station (the model from HHF, if they let you use it that is) possibly two when you upgrade the ability. i would say that the MAC type would be 3/4 the strength of the normal SMAC station but could be used in a system with the Anchor station in it.

they could also be able to move slowly (because they do in HHF)

I dont see the use in just having one smac that does quarter damage output. A station would surely be better suited that a single smac emplacement.

I meant linked to the station itself to add an extra defensive ability (other than AA turrets) and it is three quarters strength not one quarters strength

The defence coordinator does something like that (though I'm probably misunderstanding your point) but as I said above, it feels like a placeholder for something more official. Your suggestion could work in place of that.

i was just playing Halo Homefront  and i had a couple of SMAC's on the production line and i thought why couldn't the Anchor station support a couple of these in sins of the prophets (even if there are no defence slots)

What do defense coordinators do in terms of their buff?

In the latest release I played it's a 10% damage buff to all SMACs in the system. You may want Sloose or someone to confirm that.

Because the UNSC already has MACs. The point if the Anchor is to be an oversized Sabre hanger that can conduct trade/produce frigates. THEY ARE NOT A DEFENSIVE BASTION AND THEY NEVER WILL BE THAT, THAT IS FINAL.

So while I was playing the SotP Rebellion Alpha earlier, I came up with some ideas relating to starbases. I thought up my ideas under the assumption that a defensive station will be added to SotP sometime in the future.

Stations

Anchor Station

The Anchor Station is the Fleet support station and it would remain pretty much the same as it is in the Alpha.

Anchor Station Upgrades:

Hull Integrity (3 Levels)

AAA Helix Damage increase (2 Levels)

Hangar Capacity (3 Levels)

Deep Space Trade (2 Levels)

Construction Bays (1 Level)

Docking Booms (1 Level)

Self Destruct Procedure (1 Level)

Omega Station

The Omega (Gamma) station would be used to help defend gravity wells against hostile incursions, therefore, they have better defenses, armor and more hull points then their Anchor station counterparts.

Omega Station Upgrades:

Hull Integrity (3 Levels)

Hangar Capacity (1 Level)

Auxiliary Government (1 Level)

AAA Helix Damage increase (2 Levels)

Onager Defensive Batteries (2 Levels)

Missile Pods (2 Levels)

Mark II MAC  (1 Level )

Self Destruct Procedure (1 Level)

Starbase Research:

Hephestus ACU Prototype

Allows for the construction of Hephestus ACU's and Anchor Stations. Also unlocks Omega Defensive Station Research.

Omega Defensive Station

Allows Omega Defensive Stations to be built.

Remote Construction

Allows Anchor Stations to build frigates and cruisers. Anchor Stations only.

Deep Space Trade

Allows Anchor Stations to act as trade ports. Anchor Stations only.

Auxiliary Government

A gravity well in which an Omega Station is built cannot be lost until the station is destroyed. Omega Stations only.

Onager Defensive Batteries

Onager Defensive Batteries are added to Omega Stations. Omega Stations only.

Missile Pods

Missile pods are added to Omega Stations (I'm unsure which missiles should be used). Omega Stations only.

Desperate Defense

A Mark II MAC is salvaged from severely damaged UNSC warships and is quickly attached to Omega stations to help them survive against the Covenant.

Self Destruct Procedure

Allows Anchor and Omega stations to overload their reactors and destroy themselves, to protect crucial navigational data against Covenant capture and as a last ditch effort to destroy enemy fleets.

Docking Booms

Allows Anchor stations to repair ships. Anchor stations only.

Unbreachable Hull

Increases the maximum amount of armor and hull points Anchor and Omega stations can have.

Advanced Fire Control

Allows Anchor and Omega stations to do more damage to enemy ships and engage multiple targets.

How I see station research being laid out:

Goooood post my man. I'm not a massive fan of the Omega as a concept but I would happily support this. It's very well designed.

Few things:

1. One of them needs the Jump Coordination ability. But I'm in favour of making that a default passive in place of jump destabilisation.

2. Self destruct sequence says both can use in in the description but then 'only Omega.'

3. Auxillary government is a nice idea in Vanilla; but in Prophets starbases don't last too long. I'm not sure how valuable it would be.

It's nice to see the omega idea picking up.
Not sure how the idea came about, but I think it was me who coined the name back when the idea was still called the gamma station.
I'm coming up with some concept work for the omega as we speak.

it stops the flood if the starbase is defended

Oh, why thank you! I really had no idea that the Jump Coordination ability was even a thing.   I removed the 'only Omega' part from the Self Destruct ability and if the
Auxiliary Government will be useless in SotP, I have no objection if it were removed.
