Well since the Marathon is being made a capital ship:

It should be noted that the marathon cruiser is now a capital ship, and the halcyon is still a cruiser

What will be its replacement?Have dev staff thought of a replacement?
There are a couple of suggestions that could be relevant.
This ship class from halo:initaiation. 1425694_617712908270787_1729319832_n.jpg
Other alternative may include the point of no return class, ONIs stealth prowler http://halo.wikia.co...nt_of_No_Return
And the halo 4 unknown classes 640px-Unidentified_UNSC_Capital_Ship-Spa
Dakota_1.jpgPossibly a refit of a cargo vessel of some sort, simitar to a monitor vessel or something, just put together on the quick o counter the covvie offensive.

The only ships coming to our mod from Halo 4 is the UNSC Infinity and the new frigate she carries. The AI works fine without the ship role.

I certainly don't. Considering that the UNSC has a larger selection of ships they can build.

This. The UNSC have more than vanilla ships and certainly more than the covenant.

It's probably beause i have highly specialised fleets, with specialised purposes For example my combat fleet will have, 2 paris class, to each Charon class.

And of those two frigates to each cruiser. 2 marathons to 1 halcyon. about 18 cruisers to each capital ship.

Despite all this I hate the fact that the Marathon was moved to the Capital slot. It's so annoying not being able to spam such a good ship :(

Do we need to start this debate again?  <_<

Because the Marathon was kinda useless before moving into the Capital slot.

Hardly. I will guarantee that I can spam a shit ton more Paris to kill you than you ever could Marathons to counter. There is nothing to really differentiate the Marathon aside from being a slightly tankier Destroyer before the capital ship switch.

The thing I hate about the unsc in general is that it's basically a race where all it takes is a good production line with a solid economy to make an unstoppable number of frigates. Which bring up the idea that the covenant really need an AOE ability or something.

Doubtful. The Covenant is still able to handle a good amount of spam before folding just by sheer amounts of MAC volleys. The Covenant should always be in a position to pressure the UNSC enough to never reach the critical mass to simply outspam the shit out of everything. Which isn't hard for them.

Isn't the first image the new Charon class? The Strident or whatever is its name?

No the strident is the class that the Chief somehow magically managed to teleport onto between Halo 3 and Halo 4 which also conveniently suffered a complete bisection (thanks for that 343 I was alright with you changing the Charon class appearance but when you made it a difference class of ship its like wtf happened forward unto dawn being a charon? Did it magically become a strident now?). The strident is a frigate that in some ways looks similar to the frigates up to halo 3 and in Reach but the aft section varies. Also the hull appears to be a bit bulkier and much better armored. Not too fond of the name either. Makes me think of the Strident Gum.

HOLY SHIT ROFL DO YOU READ THE BOOKS?

You described the UNSC, exactly how the UNSC WON THE WAR. they didnt spam Marathons, they had like 20 of them supported by ASS TONS of frigates.

therefore using your own words, the UNSC is PERFECT as we are aiming to hit canon playstyles.

Doesn't mean that I have to like the strategy.... ;( Spamming a bunch of weak units to take out a much more powerful unit always annoyed the crap out of me. I only really am bringing it up now. And at least in the books they make it seem less of a spam tactic... ;(

There are two main problems why some tactics can't carry over to the game as I see it (bear in mind I haven't read the books):
Battle size and individual strategy.

While there were definitely some larger battles in the Halo history (I think Psi Serpentis had over 200 ships involved) for the most part they appear to be between tiny fleets. I mean look at the battle of 00. Humans sent like, 2 Charons. The elites didn't send much more. I appreciate it was the end of the war but the battle for the destiny of the universe was smaller than my initial fleets fighting militia. Some things just don't translate.

The new abilities on ships adds a nice simulation for individual captain's strategies being pulled off but you just can't get things like the Keye's loop or whatever. Basically both sides of a battle are an equation and you can work out from the start who is going to win. There's not much room for, say, a single Halcyon taking on 4 CCS classes and winning.

If my memory is correct, either Coles final battle or the Fall of Reach had the largest amount of UNSC ships present. Typical UNSC to Covenant fleet engagements were 30-50 ships on the UNSC side. Furthermore, it was extremely rare to see cruisers present in a fleet engagement. If there were cruisers present, it was an important battle.

In one of the graphic novels ( the one with col. Robert watts) there are about 7 marathons present to take down a frigate and a largely makeshift fleet.
There were 7 marathons alone in harpers fleet. Not to mention the rest of the home fleet.
