The new DLC pack of SoaSE has now arrived. For those too lazy to check their website here are the features.

The ever-expanding conflicts within and between the TEC, Vasari, and Advent have pushed the battlegrounds into uncharted space. The sectors now being drawn into the war feature the most dangerous and powerful natural phenomena in the galaxy.

Exploit what resources remain in these dangerous sectors while you can. The uncharted depths of space hold threats beyond any natural phenomenon, and not all of them wait to be explored.

  • Three new stars: Pulsars, black holes, and neutron stars pose unique dangers.
  • Six deep space anomalies: Starship graveyards, antimatter fountains, and more contain both threats and opportunities.
  • 11 random events: Stars launch volatile gases that shut down orbital operations, mobile storms wreak havoc across the solar system, and conquered factions sense your weakness and seek to reclaim their worlds.

The most interesting feature here is the random events at least for me. Still have yet to determine how moddable this is yet.

Whats the difference between a space junk and ship graveyards?

The random events could create some interesting scenarios.

Regards moddability, the update said they include a feature for it.

[ Modding ]

  • Stellar Phenomena DLC: Added new Random Event system.
  • Stellar Phenomena DLC: Added AI logic for random spawned attackers.
  • Stellar Phenomena DLC: Added new buffInstantAction type (ChangePlayerIndexToNeutral).

Are you planning on doing what you did for Forbidden Worlds and incorporating these into the mod?

Honestly I would just port them into the mods see how it affects gameplay then make adjustments as needed. This dynamic environment certainly would be a boon to the mod.

It's easier to work on a map if a lot of Rum is involved...

Also for those of us who know how to make their own maps (such as me and Normon) we may be able to use these new types to make some.... interesting scenarios to say the least.

I might at some vanilla when I get home from work just to see what it is like. That is, depending on how much it costs.

Apparently this was always here since from the Vanilla versions back in the original but it was being a sneaky bastard when Yarlen didn't even know.

Did you know that if you select a planet with a bonus and then hover your mouse over the slot in the lower left center of the UI that an Infocard will give you lore info on it?

It's the most obscure thing when Stardock's developers didn't even know that was there.

Yeah, I just found that. They always said the bonuses would offer some insight to the lore, I finally see how. They're quite interesting.
